- Cares for patients with congenital heart disease of any age, with a blend of cardiac surgical and medical diagnoses; average daily census of 26
- Common procedures include cardiac surgery, Ventricular Assist Devices (VAD), heart transplant, cardiac catheterization, and medical cardiac diagnoses
- Unit provides ventilatory support, cardiac support, ECMO, CRRT, and other complex supportive therapies
- Pediatric palliative care available as needed
- Patient ratio is 1:1 or 1:2 based on acuity
- All CVPICU beds are monitored beds
- Night shift: 3x12-hour shifts, 7:00 PM – 7:30 AM
