Assumes the responsibilities of leadership in designated clinic setting to ensure efficient and appropriate administration of care. Supports and maintains the University Health as well as the clinic’s departmental policies and standards.
EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE
BSN preferred, ADN required. Must meet career ladder Staff Nurse II criteria for worked area. Two years or more nursing experience required. American Heart Association, Basic Cardiac Life Support and Healthcare Provider card required.
Provides basic leadership skills for assigned patients, collaborates with other departments and begins process of proactive thinking when implementing the plan of care. Serves as mentor to the staff nurse and ancillary personnel; receives mentoring from Staff Nurse II and III; and Patient Care Coordinator.
EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE
Minimum of one year experience required. Verification of course completion in accordance with all American Heart Association Basic Cardiac Life Support and Health Care Provider guidelines is required. BSN highly preferred.
LICENSURE/CERTIFICATION
Current license from the Board of Nurse Examiners of the State of Texas to practice as a registered nurse is required. Must have a current AHA BLS Healthcare Provider or AHA BLS Instructor Provider card.
Serves as a clinical expert, educator, and mentor for assigned area. Functions in a team environment to provide support to clinical practice.
EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE
BSN is required. A national certification is preferred. Minimum of two years of full-time nursing experience required, five years preferred. Certified Diabetic Educator (CDE) must be obtained within two years of employment. Formal training in diabetes education and/or recent experience for three years in inpatient or outpatient care of diabetes is required. Demonstrated teaching experience and knowledge of adult education principles, ability to deliver and evaluate adult education programs. Experience with continuous glucose monitoring systems and as a pump trainer considered an asset. Demonstration of experience in curriculum development and implementation of adult learning principles is required.
LICENSURE
State of Texas Licensure as a Registered Nurse is required. Current American Heart Association Basic Cardiac Life Support and Health Care Provider card is required.
