About the Role
Riverside Health is seeking a fellowship-trained Orthopedic Hand Surgeon with an interest in assisting in some lower extremity trauma to join our dynamic orthopedic team. The successful candidate will be comfortable with microvascular trauma, provide general acute trauma services, serve as the primary resource for complex upper extremity traumatic injuries, participate in multidisciplinary care coordination, and contribute to the ongoing growth and strategic development of Riverside’s orthopedic service line.
Responsibilities
- Provide high-quality care for adult patients with traumatic musculoskeletal injuries, with a focus on the upper extremity and microvascular trauma
- Perform complex reconstructive procedures including hand, wrist, elbow, and shoulder surgery
- Participate in 24/7 trauma call coverage in collaboration with hospital and regional networks
- Collaborate with sub-specialists and the entire internal and external Riverside provider network as needed
- Contribute to quality improvement initiatives, clinical research, and educational programs
- First-line consult response, inpatient management, and OR assistance provided by six well-trained physician assistants
- Collaborate with several inpatient orthopaedic trauma surgeons, vascular surgeons, and plastic surgeons
- Largely inpatient practice with physician assistant outpatient support and option for ASC usage for cold trauma cases
Qualifications
- Board-eligible or board-certified in Orthopedic Surgery.
- Fellowship-trained in orthopedic trauma, hand, and/or upper extremity surgery strongly preferred
- Eligible for medical licensure in Virginia
- Unable to sponsor any visa providers
Required Skills
- Demonstrated skill in complex upper extremity trauma management and reconstructive surgery
- Comfortable with microvascular trauma
- Excellent interpersonal and communication skills.
