Duty location impacts pay rates; locality pay for federal law enforcement is higher in some locations than others. A fully trained BPA may be eligible for up to an additional 25% of base pay per the BPA Pay Reform Act of 2014. This is a career ladder position with a grade level progression of GL-5, GL-7, GL-9, GS-11, and GS-12. You will be eligible for a promotion to the next higher grade level (without reapplying) once you successfully complete 52 weeks in each grade level.
Border Patrol Agents are eligible to select from an array of federal employment benefits that include health, dental and other insurance plans, a generous annual and sick leave program, and participation in the Thrift Savings Plan, a retirement plan akin to a traditional ROTH 401(k) offering.

Duties and Responsibilities

Qualifications
You qualify for the GL-5 grade level if you possess one of the following:
Experience: One (1) year of general work experience that demonstrates the ability to take charge, make sound decisions, and maintain composure in stressful situations; to learn regulations, methods, and techniques through classroom training and/or on-the-job instruction; and the ability to gather concise information through questioning, observation, and examination of documents and records; OR
Education Substitution: A bachelor's degree or successful completion of a full four-year course of study in any field leading to a bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university; OR
Combination of Experience and Education: A combination of general work experience AND successfully completed college education. This will be calculated using your resume and official or unofficial transcripts submitted with your application.

Position Summary: This is a dual role encompassing both Unit Clerk and Care Partner responsibilities. Responsible for clerical duties, communication and reception duties on assigned nursing units. In partnership with Guthrie’s leadership team, PFS Director SBO is responsible for developing and executing the strategic vision for The Guthrie Clinic’s patient/guarantor billing and collection functions. This involves managing and coordinating the overall functions of patient/guarantor collection to ensure maximization of cash flow while maintaining patient, provider, and other customer relations. Works closely with administrative leaders, managers, clinical personnel and vendors to ensure effective and efficient self-pay pre-service, point of service and accounts receivables management. Provides direction in managing the activities and functions of analyzing self-pay accounts receivable for collection and aging trends, establishing performance metrics, develops automated and efficient workflows, identifying denial trends that lead to self-pay activity, develops and maintains departmental policies and procedures, establish departmental goals and reports to AVP, Corporate AR Management. Identifies areas of improvement and works collaboratively with appropriate parties for resolution. Directs the management of employees in patient guarantor collection. Maintains advanced knowledge of healthcare and automation of self-pay and bad debt A/R and strives to ensure compliance with federal and/or state laws and regulations.
Experience
10 years prior experience in healthcare, insurance or businesses with responsibility and management of billing and patient collection. Knowledge of federal and state debt collection laws and patient billing regulations. Preferred Certifications:
- Certified Revenue Cycle Professional (CRCP) or Certified Healthcare Financial Professional (CHFP)
- Certification in Healthcare Compliance (CHC) or equivalent is a plus
Skills
Excellent working knowledge in the area of health care revenue cycle billing, strong medical terminology, collection, negotiation and insurance regulations required.
Advanced customer service, written, verbal, organizational and time management skills are a must.
Proficiency in revenue cycle platforms (i.e., EPIC, Cerner, Medent) Microsoft Office products including Excel, PowerPoint, and Microsoft Word.
Proven ability to train and coach staff and build and lead strong teams to meet performance goals and for project management.
Extensive working experience in managing and directing the work of others along with proven planning and problem-solving skills to perform analysis and reports are required.

Education

- Plans and manages accurate patient billing and efficient account collection, which includes developing automated and efficient workflows. Under the direction of the Payroll Supervisor, the Payroll Associate is responsible for assisting with all tasks related to Oracle payroll processing for all Guthrie entities.
Experience:
Proficiency with computers and spreadsheets is necessary. Strong analytical and decision-making skills as well as independent thinking required. A strong customer service focus is also required.
Education:
Associate Degree in Accounting or Business plus two years of payroll experience preferred. High school diploma or equivalent required.
Essential Functions:
1. Assist with Automated Time and Attendance questions and processing. The payroll associate will answer questions and solve issues related to the current pay period process.
2. Monitor incoming emails from managers and timekeepers related to prior period payroll corrections. Runs reports and compares original payment to submitted correction. Manually calculates amount related to correction and prepares entries for load file.
3. Assist caregivers with setup related to direct deposit, W4 tax set up, voluntary and involuntary deductions.
4. Responsible for ATA timekeeper setup. This includes granting access to departments and maintaining the timekeeper group email. Conduct ATA training for new timekeepers and managers. Run and review ATA reports each pay period to support payroll processing.
5. Assist with Oracle payroll processing. Duties include running processes and reports, reviewing reports, and creating backup for third party payments. Print paper checks for caregivers and third parties.
6. Responsible for preparing spreadsheet loader files related to various pay types.
7. Processes off cycles checks per policy.
8. Researches and responds to caregivers questions related to payroll via email, HR Service Center tickets, telephone, and Microsoft Teams.
9. Processes the payroll costing steps and transfer to general ledger steps.
