Summary:
Under the direct supervision of an RPSGT performs polysomnograms/multiple sleep latency tests according to established standards and practices. Clerical duties in support of the above. Monitors and maintains technical equipment in order to ensure safe and accurate use.
Responsibilities:
* Under the direct supervision of an RPSGT Performs polysomnograms / MSLTs that meet CSVH and national standards, which enable the physician to reach an accurate diagnosis.
* Under the direct supervision of an RPSGT scores polysomnography/MSLTs according to published standards to facilitate accurate diagnosis.
* Establishes rapport with patient and family to facilitate and appropriate recording atmosphere.
* Documents significant events and conditions of recording to ensure accurate analysis of tracing.

* High school diploma or equivalent required
* Ability to perform polysom/MSLTs that meet CHRISTUS St. Vincent standards within 3 months

Experience
* No experience required.
* One-year experience in clinical or research laboratory human polysomnography preferred.
* Experience in respiratory therapy, EEG or nursing preferred.
Certification/Licenses
* NM non registered Polysom tech license prior to hire. Eligible for BRPT registry preferred.
* BLS certification required.
* Must complete the AASM Accredited Sleep Technologist Education Program (A-STEP) within 12 months of hire. A minimum of 1638 hours of clinical experience that includes on-site polysomnography duties performed as direct patient recording and/or scoring completed within two years of hire. After completion of clinical and A-STEP requirements the candidate is eligible to take the BRPT registry exam. This exam must be taken and passed between year two and three of employment.

This Job performs all routine and complicated laboratory procedures including specimen processing and handling, testing of patient specimens, calculating, and reporting of results, performance of quality control procedures, operation and maintenance of instruments and equipment, assisting in the development of new procedures and protocols, may perform phlebotomy and other patient-oriented tasks, and may perform other related duties as requested or directed.

Education/Skills

OR
* Education that has been evaluated by an acceptable credentialing agency and deemed equivalent to a US Bachelor's degree in a chemical, physical, biological or clinical laboratory science or medical technology.
Experience
* No experience required for graduates of a clinical laboratory training program approved or accredited by NAACLS, or other organizations approved by HHS. OR
* One year of approved clinical laboratory experience, which must include a clinical rotation through the following sections of the laboratory: Blood Banking, Microbiology, Chemistry, and Hematology, Immunology, and Urinalysis/Body Fluids in the U.S. or with an accredited laboratory within the last 5 years.

Salary and Duty Location Recruitment Incentives and Benefits
Annual Base Salary for newly appointed CBPOs varies as follows:
GS-9: $61,111 - $124,443 per year
Note: A fully trained CBPO is eligible for up to $45,000 in overtime pay in addition to the starting salary.
Officers are eligible to select from an array of federal employment benefits that include health, dental and other insurance plans, generous annual and sick leave, and participation in the Thrift Savings Plan.
LOCATION INCENTIVES: If you accept one of the duty locations listed below, you may be eligible to receive an additional 15%-25% of your salary each year for the first three (3) years of employment in addition to any overtime pay. Some locations may offer 25% for four (4) years.

Qualifications:
You qualify for the GS-9 grade level in one of the following ways: experience, education, or a combination of both.
Experience: A minimum of one (1) year of specialized experience equivalent to at least the next lower grade level that includes:
- Detaining suspected violators of federal, state, or local laws and/or arresting violators using the proper law enforcement methods.
- Enforcing laws and regulations relating to importing, exporting, and/or international shipping.

- Refers to established unit staffing patterns to determine minimum staffing requirements for each nursing classification and work status for each unit based on 24-hour coverage.
- Maintains current personnel phone lists.
- In cooperation with nursing Director/Manager and using the established nursing staffing system, assists in daily staffing of units by assigning personnel, calling replacements, and communicating staffing issues, including projecting weekend needs.
- Schedules and posts calendars containing information important to float per diem nursing personnel.
- Enters changes to current and future schedules promptly.
- Assists in development and implementation of projects for patient care services.
- Maintains staffing, scheduling and related use.
- Assists in accurate recording of payroll data.
Requirements:
Education:
- High school graduate or equivalent required. One year post high school courses in business preferred.
Experience:
- Experience in the health care field. Hospital experience preferred.
- Excellent communication (verbal, written, listening) skills. Multi-line telephone skills. Demonstrates ability in technical and analytical functions, knowledge of computer applications preferred.

Job Requirements: Education/Skills Graduate of an accredited program for Registered Nursing Current knowledge and skills appropriate to age/type of patient population served Knowledgeable and sensitive to patients' rights in the delivery of care Communicates in a clear concise manner appropriate to the developmental age of patient.
Experience All newly hired nurses with two or less years of experience as a Registered Nurse will be hired in at a CN I status.
A new hire can be considered for a higher clinical ladder level (level II and III only) based on years of relevant experience to the clinical area, national professional nursing certification, achievement of additional nursing education (B.S.N.
and MSN).
Licenses, Registrations, or Certifications Current New Mexico RN license or current Compact state license.
BLS Certification required or within 2 weeks of hire date.
All other required certifications must be obtained within 6 months of hire date.
If nurse has the required certifications at time of hire, they must maintain the certifications and will not have a grace period to renew.
In accordance with the CHRISTUS Health License, Certification and Registration Verification Policy, all Associates are required to obtain the required certifications for their respective positions within the designated time frame.
