Project Engineer

Salary: $70,000 - $100,000 DOE

Overview

We are seeking a motivated Project Engineer to support both ground-up & rehab and multi-family residential & commercial projects across the Bay Area and Butte County regions. This role offers the opportunity to work with an established general contractor focused on delivering high-quality, community-driven developments including affordable housing and hotel facilities.

The Project Engineer will play a key role in coordinating project documentation, supporting field and office teams, and ensuring projects progress smoothly from preconstruction through closeout. Must Haves

• Bachelor's degree in Construction Management, Engineering, Architecture, or a related field
• Minimum 2–3 years of experience supporting construction projects for a general contractor
• Proven experience working on multi-family residential or similar vertical construction projects
• Strong understanding of construction documents, specifications, and submittal processes
• Proficiency with project management software platforms and Microsoft Office Suite
• Ability to effectively coordinate with project managers, superintendents, subcontractors, and design teams
• Strong organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple tasks in a fast-paced environment
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills
• Ability to interpret and track RFI, ASI, and change order workflows
• Commitment to maintaining project schedules, quality standards, and safety protocols

Responsibilities

• Support the project team in planning, coordinating, and executing multi-family residential and hospitality construction projects
• Review, process, and track submittals, RFIs, change orders, and related project documentation
• Assist with project scheduling, ensuring tasks and milestones remain on track
• Coordinate closely with architects, engineers, consultants, and subcontractors to maintain project continuity
• Prepare meeting minutes, logs, reports, and other project documentation as required
• Assist with site walks, quality control checks, and verification of completed work
• Support procurement processes, including materials tracking and subcontractor onboarding
• Help monitor project budgets and cost events in collaboration with project management
• Ensure all work aligns with safety standards, project specifications, and quality expectations
• Contribute to problem-solving efforts, proactively identifying and resolving project issues
• Facilitate communication between field and office teams to ensure seamless project execution

Overview

Our client, a growing power engineering and infrastructure firm, is seeking a Substation Engineering Manager to lead and mentor multidisciplinary engineering teams through the full lifecycle of substation design projects. This role is responsible for resource and performance management, technical execution, and fostering a culture of safety, quality, and continuous improvement. The ideal candidate will contribute to proposals, scopes, cost estimates, schedules, and client coordination while supporting EPC, field services, and construction activities as needed. This position requires 12+ years of substation engineering design experience, a Bachelor’s degree in Engineering (Electrical preferred), proven team leadership capabilities, and strong client-facing and business development experience with hands-on technical involvement. This full-time position is based in San Ramon, CA.

Pay Rate: $184,387 - $287,674 DOE

Responsibilities:

• Lead, mentor, and manage a team of Engineers, Designers, and Drafters responsible for the technical execution of substation engineering design projects
• Effective management of resource planning, performance management, and professional development for all staff
• Lead by example to create and foster a culture in alignment with company values, that embraces technical excellence, collaboration, and continuous improvement
• Contribute to the development, review, and approval of proposal packages, work scope definitions, cost estimates, engineering schedules, and technical documentation for substation projects
• Assist and support the engineering design teams in technical execution throughout project lifecycles
• Leverage your group’s expertise and capabilities to support other areas of business operations, such as EPC projects, field services, and other construction and commissioning activities as opportunities arise

• Conduct periodic audits of the group’s adherence to project processes to ensure compliance with quality expectations
• Monitor project KPIs and deliverable tracking statuses to the extent necessary to support the team’s efforts in delivering quality work on time and budget

Requirements:

• 12+ years of substation engineering design experience
• Bachelor’s degree in Engineering (Electrical preferred, ABET-accredited)
• Proven experience managing and mentoring engineering teams
• Strong client-facing and business development experience (proposals, scope, estimates)
• Experience supporting EPC, field services, or construction/commissioning projects
• Hands-on technical involvement across full project lifecycles
