This short-term assignment is ideal for a physician with strong experience in obstetrics and gynecology who is looking to contribute to patient care in a well-established healthcare setting during the holiday period.

- Coverage Dates: December 23, 27, 28, 29, 30, 2024
- Shift Type: 24-hour call coverage for hospital

- Provide labor and delivery coverage, handling both routine and high-risk pregnancies.
- Offer GYN ED support and backup for Family Medicine and Certified Nurse Midwives.
- Care for unassigned patients as needed in Labor & Delivery (L&D) and the Emergency Department (ED).
- Perform OB and gynecological procedures, including routine deliveries, cesarean sections, and management of high-risk OB cases.
- Obstetrics:
- Routine and complicated deliveries
- High-risk pregnancy management
- Decision-making for C-section
- Fetal heart rate interpretation (NST/CST/FSE)
- Management of breech, multiple births, and VBACs
- Repair of 3rd & 4th degree lacerations
- Gynecology:
- Office/minor gynecological procedures (IUD, colposcopy, cryosurgery, etc.)
- Surgical gynecology (both open and laparoscopic)
- Operative/major procedures (ovary removal, ectopic pregnancy, cystectomy)
- License: California Medical License required.
- Board Certification: Board Eligible or Board Certified in Obstetrics and Gynecology.
- Credentialing Timeframe: Approximately 30 days. Temporary privileges may be granted for physicians without any red flags.
- Support Staff: Includes registered nurses and medical assistants.
- Insurance: Coverage provided by the vendor.
- Nearest Airport: Accessible from major airports in the Bay Area.

In addition to pediatric operating room care, the pediatric division in Oakland has essential roles in patient care outside of the operating rooms, with active participation in Ambulatory Care, Acute and Chronic Pain, the Preoperative Clinic, and the BCH Oakland Level 1 Pediatric Trauma Center.
UCSF Health encompasses five main campuses the UCSF Helen Diller Medical Center at Parnassus Heights, the Zuckerberg San Francisco General Hospital (a Level 1 Trauma Center), Mount Zion Medical Center, Benioff Childrens in Oakland, and Benioff Children's, Betty Irene Moore Women's and Bakar Cancer Hospitals at Mission Bay, as well as a pediatric ambulatory surgery center in Walnut Creek.
BCH Oakland Anesthesia faculty may have the opportunity to work at any of these additional medical centers, if desired.
Successful applicants are board certified/board eligible in pediatric anesthesiology and demonstrate an aptitude for and dedication to medical education and providing evidence based, high quality care in clinical teams that enhance the patient experience with a commitment to patient safety and satisfaction.
Applicants are expected to teach residents and medical students; participate in University service, faculty meetings, monthly Grand Rounds and M&M conferences; contribute to quality assurance programs and continuing education; and advance the mission of the department.
