In the LPN role within Executive and Development Health, patient visits include but are not limited to review of patient health history, medication review, immunization administration, cerumen removal (microsuction), focused nutrition assessments, and blood pressure visits. At times patient visits are conducted by phone ahead of a provider visit and there is opportunity for rotational remote work. Telehealth encounters can also include updating health information, researching prescription discrepancies, and/or facilitating prior authorization denials. The LPN collaborates daily with providers, desk operations specialists, patient appointment service specialists, interpreters, and medical secretaries. The Executive and Development Health program resides within General Internal Medicine and leverages a team approach to a comprehensive, expedited health care evaluation for working executive level employees.

The licensed practical nurse (LPN) provides nursing care to assigned patients under the direct supervision of the registered nurse (RN) or other assigned supervisor and accepts delegation from the RN/assigned supervisor in meeting the needs of the patient/family. The LPN collects data through observation and communicates information to assist the RN and/or provider in patient assessment and care planning. The LPN participates as a member of the health care team and accepts delegation from the RN/assigned supervisor and provider in meeting needs of the patient/family. The LPN delivers care in accordance with the patient care plan, policies and procedures of the organization and principles of relationship-based care. The LPN possesses excellent communication skills; is skillful in mentoring and instructing; and may participate on committees or projects, including quality improvement projects.

Graduate of a school of practical nursing or passed LPN Boards after a defined period in a professional nursing program (e.g., some states allow RN students to take the LPN board exam after completing one to two years in the RN program). If graduation did not occur within the last two years, one year of LPN experience working in an applicable setting is required.

Ability to adapt to unpredictable situations within the clinical and/or research settings. Able to work effectively with multiple members of the interdisciplinary care team. Demonstrates strong, effective and open communication skills to achieve mutual understanding and build trust and rapport with team members. Able to work in a rapidly changing environment while participating in developing innovative and creative solutions to patient care. The nurse technician performs delegated tasks of direct and indirect patient care under the supervision of a registered nurse(RN). The Anatomic Pathology Core Lab is looking for a Lab Processing Assistant to join their team. The Histology Laboratory processes over 400,000 paraffin-embedded blocks and 1,500,00 slides per year. Specimens handled in this laboratory include surgical, autopsy, and research material. The laboratory takes pride in contributing to the accurate diagnosis of the patient and the expansion of scientific knowledge through the services it offers both pathologists, and research investigators.
