School Counselor Requirements:

  • Master’s Degree from an accredited college or university in School Counseling.
  • Familiarity with The ASCA National Model: A Framework for School Counseling Programs, ASCA National Standards, and the Family Education Rights and Privacy Act (FERPA).
  • An understanding of related GA law pertaining to mandatory reporting, confidentiality, and crisis related topics that impact the successful implementation of a school counseling program.
  • Demonstrated experience (5 - 7 years) in the core components of a school counseling program: human growth and development, career and personal development, helping relationships, group and individual work, and assessment and program evaluation.
