St. David's South Austin Medical Center offers a position on 6-South at our state-of-the-art surgical oncology unit. You will have a rare opportunity to expand your clinical knowledge of surgical oncology patients, with opportunities for chemotherapy administration. This unit will consist of 34 beds and will have the latest technology used throughout HCA.
As a Surgical Oncology Registered Nurse (RN), you will be responsible for performing patient assessments, developing a plan of care, and implementing and evaluating care. As a member of the interdisciplinary care team, you will work collaboratively with the other members to assure the safe and accurate delivery of care.
- You will formulate a plan of care, revise the plan based on the patient’s response to treatment and regularly evaluate plan for effectiveness
- You will consult and collaborate with an interdisciplinary team to develop, evaluate and revise the plan of care to meet the patient’s needs and goals
- You will administer medications and complete treatments according to hospital policy
- You will delegate work appropriately to non-licensed staff in accordance with standards of practice
- You will provide pre- and post-operative patient care
- You will provide education materials to patients and families on care and treatments
- You will facilitate discharge plans in collaboration with the care team

Experience

Neonatal Program Manager’s responsibilities include Performance Improvement activities, chart review, gap identification, change implementation, daily patient rounds, policy and protocol review, and nursing education. In addition, ability to abstract information from identified high risk patient medical records as needed. This position is responsible for maintaining the integrity and confidentiality of the registry, verification and updating of information compiled and preparing reports as requested. In addition, the program manager will serve as the primary key contact for the facilities Neonatal Level III program. The roles and responsibilities will be primarily in a managerial, administrative role with clinical responsibilities based on the needs of the unit and may be adjusted from time to time to accommodate the changing needs of the unit
- You must be able to demonstrate understanding of national patient safety initiatives by strict compliance to all safety protocols and procedures as required by both HCA and St. David's North Austin Medical Center.
- You will develop and oversee the curriculum for critical care training for Neonatal nurses including initial entrance into the program as well as maintenance of skills.
- You will provide classes/skills labs to NICU nurses regarding physiology of high-risk and VLBW newborns and management of certain conditions that require high level of care.
- You will collaborate with Perinatal Quality Manager in preparing and conducting annual team-based simulation and/or learning scenarios for all physicians and nurses, including disaster preparation and evacuation drill.
- You will collaborate with neonatal navigator in regards to NICU patients with very high-risk conditions requiring multidisciplinary care at time of delivery and during NICU stay. This includes but is not limited to selecting nurses for care of these patients and assessing any knowledge or preparatory needs, coordinating pre and post huddles, coordinating debriefing if indicated, and follow-up education regarding any critical care occurrences.
- You will complete quarterly assessment of designation requirements assuring that we continue to meet the standards necessary for Level III. This includes but is not limited to nursing education, staffing assessments (both nursing and ancillary staff), appropriate use of policies and protocols and related documentation.
- You will co-lead QAPI for our NICU program as well as providing education and support of same for outlying facilities as required by neonatal designation. Job Summary and Qualifications
Under the direction of the physicians, the Imaging Manager, this position performs nursing support functions for patients brought to the radiology department. This position works closely with all other healthcare team members to facilitate exceptional patient care and efficient completion of both diagnostic and interventional studies while also promoting optimal unit operations. The Registered Nurse- Radiology adheres to the ICARE values while maintaining a clean and safe work environment. This stakeholder must strive to ensure optimal patient safety, security, throughput, and adhere to all applicable regulation and policies.
What you will do:
- Provide direct nursing care for Radiology patients, including conscious sedation and medication administration.
- Assess patient condition and understanding before, during, and after procedures; monitor for physiological changes and report to the physician.
- Administer medications as ordered, including narcotics, and maintain accurate documentation in medical records.
- Perform post-procedure care and communicate patient status to receiving units using approved hand-off tools.
- Maintain and check emergency equipment, crash cart, and medication stock; troubleshoot and report equipment issues as needed.
- Respond promptly to Radiology calls (phone within 10 minutes; on-site within 30–45 minutes) and coordinate coverage for multiple areas.

Job Summary and Qualifications
Under the direction of the physicians, the Imaging Manager, this position performs nursing support functions for patients brought to the radiology department. This position works closely with all other healthcare team members to facilitate exceptional patient care and efficient completion of both diagnostic and interventional studies while also promoting optimal unit operations. The Registered Nurse- Radiology adheres to the ICARE values while maintaining a clean and safe work environment. This stakeholder must strive to ensure optimal patient safety, security, throughput, and adhere to all applicable regulation and policies.
What you will do:
- Provide direct nursing care for Radiology patients, including conscious sedation and medication administration.
- Assess patient condition and understanding before, during, and after procedures; monitor for physiological changes and report to the physician.
- Administer medications as ordered, including narcotics, and maintain accurate documentation in medical records.
- Perform post-procedure care and communicate patient status to receiving units using approved hand-off tools.
- Maintain and check emergency equipment, crash cart, and medication stock; troubleshoot and report equipment issues as needed.
- Respond promptly to Radiology calls (phone within 10 minutes; on-site within 30–45 minutes) and coordinate coverage for multiple areas.
- Assist with procedures requiring RN support, including Nuclear Medicine Stress Tests.
- Demonstrate competency in all equipment used and ensure compliance with medication management policies.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
What qualifications you will need:
- Advanced Cardiac Life Spt must be obtained within 30 days of employment start date
- Basic Cardiac Life Support must be obtained within 30 days of employment start date
- NIH Stroke Scale must be obtained within 30 days of employment start date

- Other required experience: At least one year of experience in direct patient care, preferably in a Critical Care area, ER
