General Summary of Position
The Medical Assistant performs clinical and administrative duties in an ambulatory care setting under the supervision of a physician/provider and/or a registered nurse. Duties may include venipuncture medication and vaccine administration measurement and documentation of vital signs and assisting providers with patient exams and telephone and clerical support. Position may float to other sites/locations within the system.
Primary Duties and Responsibilities
* Contributes to the achievement of established department goals and objectives and adheres to department policies procedures quality and safety standards. Complies with governmental regulations and accreditation standards.
* Assists providers with patient preparation for the examination minor office procedures and with the examination and education of patients. Supports other members of the clinical care team assuring optimal best-practice patient flow; manages variable and unpredictable patient volume throughout the workday. Provides clerical support and serves as backup for the Patient Services Coordinator or other team members as needed.
* Participates in daily team huddles to review and prepare for scheduled patient visits. Screens all patients regardless of visit type for preventative care needs ongoing support barriers to care safety concerns and potential fall risk. Conducts surveillance for transitions of care urgent/emergent care or follow up tasks such as retrieval of documents associated with referrals/testing.
* Conducts motivational interviews that include patient screening and/or coaching on disease management ability motivation to change learning care needs and community outreach needs. Identifies potential behavioral health needs of patients using appropriate screening tools and notifies provider of findings.
* As part of a High-Reliability Organization reports actual and potential problems concerning patients families and associates using established reporting protocols for MedStar Health and/or work location. Participates in performance improvement initiatives to improve care quality and safety.
* Ensures ongoing compliance with regulatory accreditation and quality/safety standards by maintaining and auditing temperature logs ensuring medication supplies are current/unexpired checking and maintaining emergency equipment area free of clutter and other related tasks.
* Participates in population management activities including an awareness of the populations served and engages the patient in self-management support care/health goal setting pre-visit planning and the capturing of information that leads to health care improvement activities.
* Performs selected patient and laboratory testing consistent with the scope of the practice including but not limited to Point of Care Testing tuberculosis skin testing electrocardiography pulmonary function tests and vision and hearing testing (dependent upon provider and site requirements). Removes sutures/staples after the provider has examined the patient and written the appropriate order. Documents these activities in the patient's electronic medical record (EMR) or other venues based on policy.
* Documents clinically related activities accurately in the patient's EMR; performs required patient follow-up: to include pap smears Pb levels HIV mammograms and STD's. Collects and processes specimens completes requisitions and documents in logbook or other applicable forms/records.
* Provides escort for patients and assists with patient discharge activities. Provides chaperoning for patients per policy.
* Fulfills infection prevention and environmental responsibilities as assigned which many include: Light cleaning during clinic hours and cleaning of equipment. Updates appropriate records of scheduled equipment maintenance and manages drug and medical supply inventories.
* Provides telephone screening services to gather information from patients determine appropriate disposition and document per established telephone screening protocols.
* Under onsite provider supervision may insert intravenous catheter for physician initiated IV fluid therapy or administration of intravenous medications. Under direct onsite physician supervision may insert remove and monitor urinary catheter for procedures and prepare and administer oral drugs and injections limited to intradermal subcutaneous and intramuscular. May perform phlebotomy.
* Utilizes the EMR to propose patient medication refills for provider approval. Completes requisitions for tests (if applicable). Contacts insurance companies for Pre-authorizations for patient medications and specialty referrals including insurance authorization.
* Floats to other sites/locations within the system as appropriate and performs all duties at multiple sites.
* Attends scheduled meetings including but not limited to regular staff meetings and training classes for safety infection control OSHA CLIA BLS and others as required.

Minimal Qualifications
Education
* High School Diploma or GED required and
* Completion of an accredited Medical Assistant program preferred
Experience
* Less than 1 year 6 months experience working in an ambulatory care medical office or equivalent required. Externship in a medical or ambulatory health setting strongly preferred. Completed externship program at medstar health may be substituted for the 6 months experience in ambulatory care medical office. required and
* For Cardiology offices only: 6 months experience working in an ambulatory care medical office or equivalent required or Bachelor's degree in exercise physiology/science or related major or successful completion of a cardiac technician course. preferred and
* Prior experience as a medical assistant preferred
Licenses and Certifications
* Certified Medical Assistant (CMA)-AAMA by the American Association of Medical Assistants within 1 Year required or

General Summary of Position
Provides pharmaceutical care to assigned patients under the supervision of a more senior clinical pharmacist/manager. Evaluates and interprets physician orders and dispenses medication and other pharmaceutical supplies in accordance with established operational procedures professional standards or practice as well as state and district and Federal laws.
Primary Duties and Responsibilities
- Evaluates medication orders for accuracy and thoroughness. Resolves discrepancies of medication orders through communication with the physician clinical pharmacist or nursing staff and dispenses medication.
- Assesses feasibility compounds or verifies the compounding of extemporaneous products. Recommends alternative products when appropriate.
- Prepares IV admixtures and compounds sterile products including but not limited to: large volume parenteral mini-bags TPN solutions and hazardous agents including cytotoxic drugs.
- Independently responds to non-evaluative drug information requests.
- Monitors and takes appropriate action to ensure optimum patient drug therapy drug selection and minimal adverse drug reactions under the supervision of a more senior clinical pharmacist/manager.
- Reviews patient profile to determine contraindications with the prescription. Screens drugs/dosages to assure appropriateness based on the therapeutic intent and the patient's physiological functions. Participates in monitoring drug therapy under the supervision of a clinical level pharmacist or above when working in a decentralized setting.
- Dispenses controlled substances and maintains perpetual inventory of controlled substances assuring legal requirements and departmental policies and procedures are consistently followed.
- Provides technical supervision of support personnel. Oversees workflow and attendance to assure efficient operations. Verifies technicians' accuracy in the preparation and packaging of medications.
- Enters and verifies computer entries and data for drug orders. In decentralized setting may instruct patients/families on the safe use of medications and counsel them on potential adverse effects.
- Maintains own knowledge of current trends and developments in the field by reading literature attending related seminars and conferences and completing continuing education credits as required by the department.
- Participates in departmental and hospital education programs such as journal club grand rounds professional organizations and other education programs.
- Contributes to the achievement of established goals and objectives and adheres to department policies procedures quality standards and safety standards and MedStar SPIRIT Values. Complies with governmental and accreditation regulations.

General Summary of Position
An RN Occ Health Manager is required to oversee and actively support the MedStar St. Mary's and MedStar Southern MD Hospitals OH Teams as needed, requiring travel. Given the nature of this role, the OH Manager will be expected to have a background with proven leadership skills that demonstrate the ability to be a change agent, lead projects, connect with hospital administration to build strong internal relationships, team/staff oversight, and develop process improvement to support the daily operations of the Occupational Health teams. This would include collaboration with other regional OH Hubs and OH Shared Services, and in support of the OH AVP. Coordinates the work activities and services provided by the clinical and administrative staff to assure efficient, effective, and safe patient care in the Occupational Health Department.
Primary Duties and Responsibilities
- Develops and contributes to the achievement of established department goals and objectives and adheres to department policies procedures quality standards and safety standards. Ensures compliance with hospital/facility policies and procedures and governmental/accreditation regulations.
- Accurately documents all data into the associate electronic medical record (OHM). Accesses documents in other appropriate databases. Provides timely and complete data entry and includes all required information based on Occupational Health practice standards.
- Collaborates with OH and outside medical providers to monitor the progress of case management in terms of established outcomes which includes the length of disability rates of injury and illness and other specific indicators. Collaborates with TPA to coordinate treatment plan ensure appropriate referrals and authorizations are obtained and optimum care and case management is achieved.
- Coordinates and implements the Advanced Practice provider peer-review evaluation process. Coordinates and provides ongoing medical in-services with the OH AVP to promote and enhance practice in occupational health and managing treatment for a work-related injury. Organizes orientation programs and oversees continuing clinical education to ensure adequate preparation of staff to meet clinical practice and operational requirements.
- Develops plans recommends and helps implement wellness programs to improve the health and work-life balance of associates.
- Evaluates and follows MedStar OH protocol for fitness for duty. Makes appropriate referrals to physicians other health care providers and facilitates mandatory EAP referrals if indicated.
- Evaluates associates' ability to return to work full-duty or in modified work capacity after an extended absence. Assesses work capability given reason for absence and job responsibilities. Develops implements and monitors transitional duty programs for associates with work-related injuries.
- Evaluates assesses and treats work-related injuries with implementations of standards of care according to OH policies. Formulates appropriate care plan including diagnostics and referral to specialists as indicated. Completes appropriate workers' compensation documentation. Enters and updates appropriate databases with case information and work with TPA to manage workers compensation claims.
- Implements health compliance programs required for hospital workers as identified by federal state and policy guidelines. Programs include but are not limited to: mandatory influenza program N95 fit testing hearing conservation TB testing and vaccination requirements.
- Liaises with entities/departments to evaluate the safety of the workplace and collaborate with managers in injury prevention measures and departmental action planning.
- Oversees daily operations and facilitates the interdisciplinary and collaborative practice of clinical and support staff. Assists with the recruitment selection on-boarding and staff management. Coordinates and completes the performance evaluation process for all staff.
- Performs pre-placement medical clearances for new candidates including complete job appropriate history and physical examinations with referral to PCP if indicated.
- Prepares and administers medications including vaccinations and tuberculosis testing according to department policy/procedure. Follows appropriate OH protocol for exposure type including appropriate labwork first aid and/or prophylaxis administration and informs of necessary exposure follow-up.
- Requisitions and interprets diagnostic laboratory and x-ray examinations when indicated. Counsels individual associates regarding exam findings abnormal lab and x-ray results appropriate follow-up any implications for personal health and the impact on job performance.
- Works with OH AVP and OH Shared Services to prepare and manage designated OH site budget effectively to ensure resources are available to support departmental goals and objectives. Collaborates with OH AVP and OH Shared Services to identify evaluate and implement plans to improve operations and clinical practice in the OH department in collaboration with the department director and medical director.
- Participates in meetings and on committees and represents the department and hospital in community outreach efforts. Participates in multi-disciplinary quality and service improvement teams.

This will be an evening position 4 10 or 5 8-hour shift, our current need is weekend and evenings.
As a Multiskilled Radiology Technologist I, you will conduct various radiographic examinations for a physician to diagnose and treat patient conditions. Primary Duties:
Maintains and demonstrates thorough understanding and clinical competency for all exams and equipment of multiple modalities. Follows departmental imaging standards by performing high quality imaging of the anatomic areas requested by the ordering physician in a safe and effective manner, including properly labeling images, explaining the exam to patients, and obtaining pertinent clinical information by the Radiologists, history, and consent for procedure.
Properly identifies patients (Name & DOB). Maintains HIPPA compliance. Possesses and demonstrates adequate knowledge to provide Radiological services appropriate to pediatric, adolescent, adult, and geriatric patients. Performs examination completion in RIS and PACS ensuring all images are processed, archived, and available to the Radiologist for interpretation and maintains department document standards within all electronic systems.
Responsible for maintenance and care of departmental facilities in compliance with all hospital infection control policies. All treatment rooms/areas are cleaned and stocked. Provides the utmost attention to the individual medical needs, dignity, and comfort of all patients in support of the established mission and values.
Implements staffing schedule and responds to daily staffing of department or clinic needs. Coordinates quality management activities including QA projects. Provides staff orientation, mentoring, and training to new department employees. Coordinates and reports on customer satisfaction projects and activities. Completes performance appraisals of department employees in conjunction with Director. Initiates corrective action, as needed, to department employees up to, and including, written warnings with Director.
Responsible for tracking department specific volume, regulatory audits, and staff productivity. Qualifications:
Bachelor’s degree from an accredited School of Radiologic Technology.
ARRT (American Registry of Radiologic Technologists) Registry, or NMTCB (Nuclear Medicine Technology Certification Board).
ARDMS (American Registry for Diagnostic Medical Sonography) - status maintained by fulfilling education/registry requirements in one or more of the following registries: MRI (Magnetic Resonance Imaging), CT (Computed Tomography), Mammography, Cardiac-Interventional Radiography, Vascular Interventional Radiography, Nuclear Medicine, Bone Densitometry, Quality Management, or Sonography.
CHCQM - Certified Healthcare Quality Management certification by the Maryland Board of Physician Quality Assurance.
Active Maryland state licensure.
CPR (Cardiac Pulmonary Resuscitation).
3-4 years’ experience in the registry post-primary pathway certification preferred.
