Why Annapolis is the Place to Be:
Known as the "Sailing Capital of the World," Annapolis is a picturesque coastal treasure that perfectly blends its prestigious role as Maryland’s state capital with a high-energy center of maritime history and academic excellence. It is a place where you can watch midshipmen in crisp uniforms walk the historic brick streets in the morning and set sail across the Chesapeake Bay by the afternoon. With a metro area population of approximately 400,000, Annapolis is large enough to host international boat shows and high-level government sessions, yet small enough to maintain its colonial charm and walkable, waterfront atmosphere.
Annapolis Lifestyle:
Natural & Historic Beauty: Celebrated for its stunning views of the Severn River and the Chesapeake Bay, the city is home to historic landmarks like the Maryland State House—the oldest in continuous legislative use—and the 18th-century William Paca House and Garden.
Cultural Roots: As a historic colonial seaport, the city hosts the annual Maryland Maritime Festival and a rich array of events celebrating its naval heritage, centered around the United States Naval Academy and the bustling shops and taverns of City Dock.
Strategic Stability: As both a state capital and a maritime hub, Annapolis offers the economic resilience of a government center paired with the prestigious innovation of elite educational institutions and a thriving tourism and marine industry.
