Baptist Medical Center Clay is located on 32 acres at U.S. 17 and Village Square Parkway on Fleming Island. The facility opened in May 2013 to bring the high-quality care of Wolfson Children’s Hospital and Baptist Health to residents of Clay County. The Baptist/Wolfson Children’s Emergency Center, which is open 24 hours a day, has 16 treatment rooms, a separate waiting room for children, child-specific medical equipment and imaging capabilities, a LifeFlight helipad and an on-site ambulance. Mayo Clinic’s Department of Neurosurgery in Jacksonville, Florida, led by Richard W. Byrne, M.D., is seeking a board-certified or board-eligible neurosurgeon with fellowship training in surgical epilepsy and stereotactic & functional neurosurgery.
The successful candidate will join the Department of Neurosurgery within the Mayo Clinic College of Medicine and Science, an academic tertiary-care program committed to excellence in patient care, research, and education.
Clinical Focus & Expertise
The ideal candidate will have demonstrated expertise in advanced functional neurosurgical procedures, including:
Epilepsy surgery
Deep brain stimulation (DBS) for movement disorders
Stereotactic radiosurgery
Surgical treatment of pain syndromes
Strong clinical skills and a patient-centered approach are essential.
Academic & Research Expectations
