As an MRI Technologist, you will perform diagnostic Magnetic Resonance Imaging (MRI) examinations according to established imaging protocols. Provides efficient and effective patient care in high-quality diagnostic MRI examinations. Provides high customer service, performing consistent with Hospital organization values.

Primary Duties: 

  • Conducts patient interviews to identify contraindicated implants, foreign bodies, and other medical conditions on concern. Identifies and performs appropriate examinations based on patient history.  

  • Verifies prescription and protocol. Uses appropriate imaging parameters. Injects contrast based on patient weight after verifying the patient’s renal function status. Verifies image quality prior to ending the examination.  

  • Appropriately documents examination. Verifies the examinations is correct in both Cerner, PACS, PenRad and DynaCAD (when applicable). Assists in organizing and maintaining inventory of supplies. Ensures the work area is maintained at a high state of cleanliness.  

  • Promptly prepares films and CDs upon request. Assists with protocol development and implementation. Assists with the training of new personnel and Radiology School students regarding procedures, imaging protocols and department policy.  

  • Collects quality control data for managers, such as film usage, equipment problems, etc. Completes all required information system functions to assure proper patient information, billing, examination, and other necessary functions. 

 

Qualifications:  

  • Associate’s degree or one to three years, with formal training in an American Medical Association accredited school of Radiologic Technology/Magnetic Resonance Imaging. 

  • Job-related experience or Successful completion of a formal MRI educational training program. This will be waived for MedStar Washington Hospital Center Radiology School students that have rotated to MRI. 

  • ARRT (American Registry of Radiologic Technology) MRI or ARMRIT (American Registry of Magnetic Resonance Imaging Technologists) within 1 Year.  

  • BLS (Basic Life Support).

Primary Duties:

* Operates and documents all aspects of the Cath Lab including all procedures performed in the Cath Lab. Functions as a contributing member of the Interventional Radiology/Cardiac Catheterization Laboratory team, working in conjunction with Vascular surgeons, cardiologists, radiologists, registered nurses, and cardiovascular technologists. Provides the technical skills necessary to assist the physician in performing Interventional Radiology and Cardiac Catheterization procedures. Provides a safe environment for the patient during their Interventional Radiology and Cardiac Catheterization procedures. May function as a Scrub Assistant, ensuring maximum compliance to principles of aseptic/sterile technique by self and members of the team. Ensures adequate floor and room stock are available for imaging procedures. Assists in the recording, storing, retrieval and analyzing data obtained during the interventional cardiovascular procedures. Assists in monitoring patients. Including Hemodynamic data/ECG/Angiographic data. Recognition of changes of the above, documenting as necessary and reporting to physician and other team members in a time sensitive fashion. Assists with preparation of radiologic and other laboratory equipment to be used during the procedure while adhering to the principles of aseptic/sterile technique. Maintains and evaluates equipment, and troubleshoots equipment as needed. Responsible for the proper use and operation of all related interventional equipment. Properly positions patient for procedure and informs patient what to expect during the procedure as well as any instructions that the patient needs to follow. Participates in data collection and results reporting for ongoing quality improvement.
* Maintains a clean, safe, prepared work environment. Prepares room for procedure. Cleans and sterilizes equipment and procedure table. Restocks and requests room supplies that have dwindled. Checks drug supplies and informs the appropriate person of what needs to be replenished.
* Maintains current knowledge, certification, and licensure. Identifies learning needs in self and initiates actions to address these education needs. Attends continuing education programs to maintain certification. Attends hospital sponsored training programs as required by the department Completes all mandatory requirements, certifications, and licensure within allotted time for completion.
* Works effectively within and between departments. Participates on inter-departmental teams and committees, communicating unit knowledge as appropriate Provides department/unit with information and knowledge acquired during participation with interdepartmental teams and committees. Demonstrates a constructive approach during all interactions with staff, supervisors, and managers both inside and outside the unit.
* Assures that the appropriate sterile instruments are available Assures that all personnel have a dosimeter badge Creates quarterly exposure reports for the Radiation Safety Committee. Maintains records of yearly lead surveys. Maintains records of daily crash cart checks Responsible for precepting the new Cardiovascular Lab technologist Assists in establishing and maintaining product PAR counts Assists in communication with company representatives and procedural physicians for equipment availability, case scheduling, etc. Attends system-wide meetings and brings information back to department staff as appropriate.

Qualifications:

* Vocational/Technical Diploma or associate degree in Radiology.
* 5-7 years' Cath Lab experience preferred.
* ARRT license as Registered Radiation Technologist in Maryland.
* CPR (Cardiac Pulmonary Resuscitation) within 90 Days.
* ACLS (Advanced Cardiac Life Support).

Makes recommendations for updates in plan of care using knowledge of interventions and resources.Establishes and documents teaching plan for patients/families based on patients' level of knowledge diagnosis prescribed treatment and available resources. Communicates (verbal written demonstration) respectfully with patients/families supervisor peers and other health team members. Establishes visit schedule and informs patient/family and team supervisor.Contributes to the achievement of established goals and objectives and adheres to department policies procedures quality standards and safety standards. Completes annual Code of Conduct Compliance and other mandatory training.Implements an effective physical therapy treatment plan in conjunction with the patient their family/caregiver the patient's physician and other members of the health care team and modifying treatment plan as needed.Evaluation includes interview observation palpation specialized assessments including but not limited to goniometry muscle strength testing and sensory testing. Such assessments require use of tools (e.g. goniometer sphygmomanometer stethoscope) and the possession of sight and hearing senses or the use of prosthetics that will enable these senses to function adequately.Independently implements and documents plan of care for patients with a routine to complex problems to facilitate continuity of care. Documented interventions are related to planning of care. Interventions reflect the standard of care for patient condition/diagnosis. Interventions include utilizing agency and community resources. Performs therapy interventions consistent with home care protocols. Interventions reflect knowledge of standard home care supplies and equipment used inpatient care.Independently organizes patient assignments for completion of tasks within acceptable time frames. Seeks assistance from PT III Rehab Care Manager or supervisor regarding complex patient problems. Maintains necessary clinical records collects data and prepares reports on activities. Submits completed admission records within 48 hours and daily records within 24 hours with a Ninety-five percent accuracy on technical audit. Recertification completed prior to recert date. Maintains caseload mix and productivity for acuity level of patients.Initiates and participates in regularly scheduled case conferences; includes all disciplines. Includes patient and family in mutual goal setting and care plan revision.Maintains effective working relationships with other departments and participates in multidisciplinary quality and service improvement teams. Participates in meetings and on committees and represents the department and agency in community outreach efforts. Enhances growth and development and enriches personal knowledge and skill through participation in educational programs and affiliations.Performs history and assessment related to episode of patient illness to determine the patient's habilitation/rehabilitation needs. Recommends adaptive equipment and/or home modifications to maximize the patient's functional abilities and safety. Identifies primary patient problems from assessment. Identifies discharge planning needs including referrals to appropriate community resources. Education
  • Bachelor's degree in Physical Therapy from an accredited school required
Experience
  • 1-2 years Clinical experience required
Licenses and Certifications
  • PT - Physical Therapist License to practice Physical Therapy in the District of Columbia Maryland or Virginia or any combination based on work location(s) Upon Hire required and
  • DL - Valid State Driver's License in good standing with a dependable vehicle for transportation Upon Hire required
