The Associate Director of Government Affairs is responsible for supporting the association’s local government advocacy and policy initiatives and advancing fundraising efforts for the Northern Virginia Realtors® Political Action Committee (NVRPAC).
This position assists in the development and execution of fundraising strategies to increase PAC revenue, expand major donor and corporate ally participation, and strengthen a culture of political investment among NVAR members. In addition, the role supports advocacy efforts through legislative tracking, coalition engagement, and representation of the association before local governments and stakeholder groups.
Responsibilities
PAC Fundraising & Development
- Develops and manages an annual fundraising plan to grow total NVRPAC revenue.
- Supports establishment and tracking of fundraising goals across key performance metrics (e.g., total fundraising, participation, major investors, President’s Circle program).
- Works in coordination with state and national associations to support RPAC “Triple Crown” achievement goals.
- Tracks fundraising performance and prepares regular reports for management and volunteer leadership.
- Identifies opportunities to expand PAC participation and strengthen the investor pipeline
Major Donor Development & Solicitation
- Supports development and management of a portfolio of major donor prospects and investors.
- Participates in solicitation efforts, including in-person and virtual meetings with members and prospects.
- Assists the CEO, Vice President of Government Affairs, and volunteer leaders in coordinating high-level fundraising efforts.
- Supports administration and growth of major donor and recognition programs.
Campaign & Member Engagement
- Develops and implements annual and targeted fundraising campaigns.
- Collaborates with Communications teams to support messaging, promotional materials, and recognition efforts.
- Promotes PAC participation across association events, meetings, and communications platforms.
- Supports and engages with member volunteer fundraising committees.
Event-Based Fundraising
- Plans and executes PAC fundraising events and receptions.
- Seeks to maximize fundraising opportunities across association programs and events.
Legislative & Policy Tracking
- Monitors and tracks local government activity across Northern Virginia jurisdictions.
- Prepares policy summaries, briefing materials, and updates for internal staff and member audiences.
- Supports development of policy positions aligned with NVAR priorities, including housing supply and economic development initiatives.
Local Government Engagement
- Represents NVAR at local government meetings, public hearings, and stakeholder forums, as assigned.
- Builds relationships with local elected officials, staff, and key stakeholders.
- Assists in advancing advocacy strategies before local jurisdictions.
Coalition & Partner Engagement
- Engages with external partners including local chambers of commerce, industry groups, and advocacy coalitions.
- Supports coordination of regional advocacy efforts and joint initiatives.
Compliance & Reporting
- Facilitates accurate tracking and reporting of all PAC contributions.
- Ensures compliance with all applicable campaign finance laws and reporting requirements.
- Maintains investor records and recognition lists in PAC management systems.
Qualifications
Bachelor’s degree required.
3+ years of relevant experience in fundraising, government affairs, political campaigns, or public policy.
Experience supporting fundraising or PAC activities preferred.
Experience with local government processes, public policy, or advocacy preferred.
Association or political experience is a plus.

COMPENSATION:
- Salary range: $75,000 – $85,000, commensurate with experience.
