Job Description:
As an Orthopedic Physician Assistant, you will play a key role in delivering high-quality patient care. This position involves working closely with our orthopedic surgeons in clinical consultations, pre- and post-operative care, and assisting in surgical procedures while ensuring optimal patient outcomes. The PA will also be responsible for patient education, treatment planning, and maintaining patient documentation. This is a 40-hour position, flexible shifts required.
Interpersonal Relationships: As a representative of NEBSC, all comments attitudes, actions & behaviors have a direct effect on the Facility?s image and perceptions of quality service. Interaction with patients, families, physicians, referral sources, affiliating schools, visitors, volunteers, co-workers, supervisors, vendors, etc. must be in a manner that is friendly, supportive, courteous, respectful, cooperative, and professional. This behavior should promote an atmosphere of teamwork which is congruent with Facility standards and guidelines to promote positive relations.
Position Requirements:
- National Commission on Certification of Physician Assistant (NCCPA) PANCE eligible and eligible for PA licensure in the State of Massachusetts.
- Documentation of Massachusetts PA license and initial NCCPA certification are required upon hire.
- Massachusetts Controlled Substances Registration and federal DEA Controlled Substance Registration are required.
- Master?s degree in physician assistant studies or a related field.
- Advanced Cardiac Life Support certification.
- Two years of experience as an orthopedic physician assistant preferred.
- Experience working in the Operating Room with Orthopedic Surgeons.
Essential Position Responsibilities: Job Knowledge
- Provides direct care, counseling and teaching in an ambulatory surgery setting.
- Prevised pre-operative services, including pre-op History and Physicals and review of laboratory and diagnostic procedures.
- Presents and discusses the findings of the initial evaluation with the Anesthesia Director and Surgeon.
- May assist in surgery.
- Anticipates the need of the surgeon in order to expedite the surgical procedure.
- Provides advanced surgical scrub services in primary service.
- Ensures treatment and consultations consistent with NCQA (National Committee for Quality Assurance), AAAHC (Accreditation Association for Ambulatory Health Care), and federal and state regulatory standards.
