Job Description

The Middle School Literacy Specialist will be a visionary for students who are at-risk for academic underperformance due to reading and writing challenges. This person will support students to succeed in the rigorous academic programs offered at Rochester Prep.  This role will focus on leading and delivering literacy interventions, that aim to close gaps in reading and writing, to students who are considered at-risk or students with specific learning disabilities.  The Literacy Specialists will be instrumental in giving students access to grade level curriculum through literacy equity. 

Reports to: Building Principal

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:  

  1. Oversee and deliver multi-tier literacy intervention services for students in grades 5 - 8.  
  2. Monitor progress of students and share with school team leaders, teachers, and families. 
  3. Create an inclusive and safe environment where students feel empowered to become self-guided learners. 
  4. Collaborate with general and special education teachers, school leaders, and families to analyze and respond to trends in student work and assessments.
  5. Build positive relationships with students to ensure they feel seen, loved, and heard.
  6. Partner with students’ families to ensure appropriate resources are available to support learning needs. 
  7. Participate in weekly, school-wide meetings to cultivate community, model our core values, and encourage student achievement.

Compensation for this role is between $50,000 to $64,700.

Duties and Responsibilities:

As a BPA, you will be part of our 60,000+ workforce that strives to protect the American people by safeguarding our borders, deterring illicit activity, and enhancing the nation's economic prosperity. Being a BPA makes you a valuable member of the Federal Law Enforcement Officer (LEO) profession.

Typical assignments include:

  • Detecting and questioning people suspected of violating immigration and customs laws and inspecting documents and possessions to determine citizenship or violations.
  • Preventing and apprehending aliens and smugglers of aliens at or near the borders by maintaining surveillance from covert positions to include using infrared scopes during night operations.
  • Interpreting and following tracks, marks, and other physical evidence of illegal entry of persons or contraband.
  • Performing farm checks, building checks, traffic checks, city patrols, and transportation checks.

Qualifications:

GL-9: You qualify for the GL-9 grade level if you possess one (1) year of specialized experience, equivalent to at least the next lower grade level, performing duties such as:

  • Performing physical searches of detained individuals, their vehicles, and their immediate surroundings for weapons, contraband, currency, and other evidence.
  • Apprehending, physically restraining, or working with law enforcement officials to identify or apprehend violators of state, federal, or immigration laws.
  • Proficient in the use of firearms, preparing investigative reports, serving court orders (e.g., warrants, subpoenas, etc.), and gathering evidence for criminal cases prosecuted through the court system.

If you have previous or current law enforcement or military law enforcement experience, you may qualify at the GS-11 grade level.

GS-11: You qualify for the GS-11 grade level if you possess one year of specialized experience equivalent to at least the next lower grade level, with the authority granted by the state or government to enforce laws, make arrests, and investigate crimes, performing primary duties in an official law enforcement capacity such as:

  • Utilizing intelligence information to track illegal operations, criminal activity, threats to our nation, and/or contraband while serving as a state, federal, or military law enforcement official.
  • Leading investigations of fraud, contraband, criminal activity, threats to our nation, and/or illegal operations to determine sources and patterns while serving as a state, federal, or military law enforcement official.
  • Apprehending violators of state, federal, or immigration laws by utilizing various forms of complex technology that include surveillance, detection, situation awareness systems, and/or communications equipment.

The above experience will be applied in connection with the following: Make arrests and exercise sound judgment in the use of firearms; deal effectively with people in a courteous manner in connection with law enforcement matters; analyze information rapidly and make prompt decisions; or develop and maintain contact with a network of informants.

There are no education substitutions for the GL-9 or GS-11 grade-level Border Patrol Agent opportunities.

Other Requirements:

Citizenship: You must be a U.S. Citizen to apply for this position.

Residency: You must have had primary U.S. residency (including protectorates as declared under international law) for at least three of the last five years.

Age Restriction: In accordance with Public Law 100-238, this position is covered under law enforcement retirement provisions. SUMMARY: As a Registered Nurse (RN), you’re the engine and the heart of patient care at Rochester Regional Health. Join our Cardiothoracic Step-Down Unit, a high-acuity telemetry unit caring for patients recovering from open-heart and thoracic surgeries, including those with Left Ventricular Assist Devices (LVADs). As a step-down from the CTICU, the unit offers a consistent, specialized cardiac patient population with occasional overflow from cardiac medicine.

All RNs receive comprehensive LVAD training during orientation, making this an excellent opportunity for nurses seeking to develop critical care skills in a supportive, team-oriented environment.

RESPONSIBILITIES:

· Provides high-quality, patient-centered, clinical care

· Performs initial and ongoing assessment of the patient, utilizing appropriate data (i.e. physical, psychological, educational and risk-screen data appropriate for the chronological / developmental age of the patient).

· Communicates and documents assessment of patient with the interdisciplinary team. Utilizes all available resources in order to meet the needs of the patient and family.

Shift: 7:00 PM - 7:00 AM



Experience:



• 12 months of role experience is required with some in the last 12 months.



• Must have at least 12 months of Medical Surgical / Telemetry Unit experience.



• Experience with Epic is required from any number of months.



Requirements:



• Candidates must have a New York license (required for submission).



• This role may require floating to additional units and locations



• Travel only, local not allowed. Candidates must live >75 miles from facility to be submitted.



• 12 months gap required between for Staff at Program: Aya Program - Rochester Regional Health System and no current placement allowed at Program: Aya Program - Rochester Regional Health System.

  • RNs need to have a mandatory competency with phlebotomy as well as placing IVs as this is a required skill for any RN at Unity.
  • Required Skills: MS/Tele, Cardiac Monitoring and Emergency response, Interpretation of dysrhythmias, Management of dysrhythmias, Use of Rapid Response/Code teams, IV therapy/Phlebotomy, Peripheral Line Care/Management, Phlebotomy, Respiratory, Nasal Cannula, Oxygen administration, Oxygen tanks, Non-invasive airway management, Professional Topics and Skills, Isolation Precautions/PPE.


Preferred Skills/Experience: Teaching Hospital Experience.

Compensation

Compensation for this role is between $50,000 to $64,700.

Starting pay is determined using various factors including but not limited to relevant full-time teaching experience, education certifications, and tenure with Uncommon Schools. Candidates without full-time Teaching experience will likely have a starting salary of $50,000.

The Med Surg/Complex Care (6800) is a 39-bed acute medical telemetry unit caring for a wide range of patients, including those with medical-surgical needs, orthopedic overflow, Tracheostomies, and ED holds. The unit supports both medically complex patients and those preparing for safe discharge. This unit is a great fit for nurses who thrive in fast-paced, high-acuity settings that require strong clinical judgment and collaboration.

CLINICAL LADDER LEVEL I-IV

The RN level will be determined at the time of hire based on the candidate’s qualifications and ability to meet Clinical Ladder requirements. An established compensation add-on is applied to each RN level.

Level expectations include:

RN Level II: Minimum 6 months RN experience; AAS in Nursing; completion of Clinical Ladder requirements within 12 months, including 3 activities per pillar (Leadership, Quality, Organizational Contribution), 9 CEUs, and 6 flex items.

RN Level III: Minimum 1 year RN experience; AAS in Nursing; demonstrated clinical and leadership skills; preceptor and/or charge experience; completion of 4 activities per pillar, 12 CEUs, and 15 flex items.

RN Level IV: Minimum 1 year experience in the specialty hired into; BS in Nursing required; expanded leadership role (charge, preceptor, mentor); completion of Clinical Ladder requirements within 12 months, including 5 activities per pillar, 15 CEUs, and 20 flex items.

RESPONSIBILITIES:

- Provides high-quality, patient-centered, clinical care.

- Performs initial and ongoing assessment of the patient, utilizing appropriate data (i.e. physical, psychological, educational and risk-screen data appropriate for the chronological / developmental age of the patient).

- Communicates and documents assessment of patient with the interdisciplinary team. Utilizes all available resources in order to meet the needs of the patient and family.

- Develops and documents plan of care, treatment and services which is individualized and appropriate for the patient needs, strengths, limitations and goals.

- Complies with organizational policies, procedures and protocols including policies governing safety, medication administration and documentation.
