Job Details

You will:

Serve as lead or key co-counsel on commercial finance, lending, and real estate transactions (construction, acquisition, development, term, mini-perm, permanent).

Draft, negotiate, and review credit agreements, security documents, intercreditor agreements, subordination, participation agreements.

Work on restructurings, workouts, collateral enforcement, foreclosures, and distressed debt matters.

Collaborate with banking clients and internal stakeholders (lenders, borrowers, funds).

Oversee junior associates, delegate tasks, and review work.

Stay current on regulatory, tax, UCC, and securities developments that impact commercial finance.

Participate in business developmentโ€”cultivate relationships in the financial and lending community.

What you bring (must-haves):

4โ€“8 years (or more) of experience in transactional banking, commercial finance, real estate lending, or related work.

Strong drafting, negotiation, and analytical skills.

Experience navigating multi-jurisdictional issues; familiarity with UCC, securities, state and federal lending law.

Excellent academic credentials and strong work ethic.

Ability to manage multiple deals, priorities, and high volume.

Comfortable interfacing with clients and taking ownership.

Role Overview

Key Responsibilities

  • Deliver white-glove service to clients with speed, accuracy, and professionalism
  • Prepare for client meetings and proposals with exceptional attention to detail
  • Draft and manage client communications via email, phone, and written correspondence
  • Participate in client meetings, document notes (with AI support), and manage follow-ups
  • Gather and organize information to support comprehensive financial planning
  • Prepare, process, and track all custodial paperwork (new accounts, asset movement, money requests, transfers, etc.)

This role will oversee all financial reporting, budgeting, forecasting, financial analysis, and fiscal compliance requirements. The Nonprofit CFO will work closely with the CEO (Chief Executive Officer) and the Board of Directors to develop and implement strategies that support the agencyโ€™s mission and goals.

Key responsibilities may include, but are not limited to:

Financial Management

  • Develop and implement financial strategies that support the agencyโ€™s mission and goals
  • Manage and oversee all financial operations, including accounting, budgeting, forecasting, and financial analysis
  • Ensure the accuracy and completeness of financial records, including the general ledger, accounts payable and receivable, payroll, and other financial systems
  • Prepare and present financial reports to the CEO and Board of Directors, providing analysis and recommendations as needed
  • Ensure compliance with all financial reporting and regulatory requirements, including tax filings, audits, and other reporting requirements
  • Develops and maintains systems of internal controls to safeguard financial assets; including establishing controls over financial reporting, fraud prevention, and disclosure

  • Manage relationships with external partners, including banks, auditors, and other financial service providers

Budgeting and Forecasting

  • Develop and oversee the annual budgeting process, working closely with program leadership to develop realistic and achievable budgets
  • Prepares operating budgets for Requests for Proposals (RFPโ€™s) and participates in grant proposal writing and reports as requested
  • Monitor actual performance against budget and provide regular updates and analysis to the CEO and Board of Directors
  • Develop and maintain financial forecasting models that support long-term financial planning and decision-making

Strategic Planning and Leadership

  • Maintains a thorough working knowledge of federal, state and managed care reimbursement payment methodologies, including: contractual accounting, payment calculations, billing requirements and compliance issues
  • Manage relationships with external auditors and other financial service providers to ensure compliance with all reporting and regulatory requirements
Qualifications:
  • Bachelorโ€™s degree in Finance or Accounting and/or its equivalent required, CPA preferred.
  • Minimum ten yearsโ€™ in a CFO role required
  • Behavioral health/healthcare experience preferred
  • Knowledge of Health Insurance, including Medicaid, Medicare and MCOโ€™s required; Behavioral Health billing a plus
  • Experience working with finance and accounting software packages; knowledge of Fund EZ nonprofit accounting software preferred
  • Proven track record of successful financial management, including experience developing and implementing financial strategies, managing budgets, and overseeing financial reporting and compliance
  • Must have knowledge with specific funding sources: OMH, OTDA, HUD
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills required
  • Exceptional organizational, communication, leadership, and interpersonal skills
