About the Role
The Water Quality Association (WQA) is seeking a Senior Technical Reviewer to provide advanced technical evaluation, guidance, and support across the Product Certification and Business Development departments. This position plays a critical role in reviewing products undergoing certification, developing technical documentation, and strengthening internal expertise related to the Gold Seal Product Certification Program.
Key Responsibilities
Technical Evaluation & Expert Guidance
- Conduct daily technical evaluations for most or all standards covered under the Gold Seal Product Certification Program, including initial certifications, recertifications, and revisions.
- Provide ongoing technical guidance and support to Product Certification and Business Development departments, domestic and international, to ensure customer satisfaction and process efficiency.
- Evaluate technical nonconformances, determine impact, and recommend effective resolutions.
- Assist the WQA Laboratory and Account Representatives with product failures, testing issues, and technical interpretations.
Training & Technical Documentation
- Prepare, develop, and deliver technical training programs for Product Certification staff, including new hire training and cross‑departmental training for Business Development and Laboratory teams.
- Develop and update technical documents such as forms, SOPs, and tools used across Product Certification and Business Development.
- Deliver technical training sessions for customers on industry standards and general certification processes, as directed by the Technical Development Manager or Associate Director of Certification Operations.
Operational & Customer Support
- Support Product Certification and Business Development teams in achieving goals, timelines, and budget expectations to maintain customer satisfaction and operational effectiveness.
- May be authorized to conduct final reviews and make final certification decisions for submitted projects.
- May assist with certification project tasks as assigned by the Technical Development Manager.
- May serve as the primary customer contact during periods of high departmental backlog.
Industry & Standards Engagement
- Create standard interpretations and prepare issue documents proposing updates to industry standards used in the Gold Seal Certification Program.
- Represent WQA in meetings, including conference calls, onsite discussions, and preparation of supporting materials.
- May attend industry conferences and deliver technical presentations to support or promote WQA’s certification programs.
What You’ll Bring
- Bachelor of Science in Chemistry or a related natural science required.
- Three to five (3–5) years of water industry experience, with strong familiarity with water treatment technologies, products, or systems.
- Two to four (2–4) years of experience in the certification industry preferred.
- Knowledge of NSF/ANSI standards and the ability to interpret and apply them within the product certification process.
- Strong project management skills, with the ability to manage multiple technical reviews, timelines, and priorities.
- Experience working with Quality Systems and Laboratory Safety Protocols, ensuring accuracy, consistency, and compliance.
- Certified Water Specialist (CWS) designation preferred.
- Strong customer service and presentation skills, with the ability to interact professionally with customers and internal teams.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills, including the ability to explain complex technical findings clearly.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Word, Excel, and PowerPoint, with the ability to create documentation, reports, and training materials.
