Position Overview: Pulmonology or Infectious Disease physician with Expertise in Non-Tuberculous Mycobacteria
The University of Texas at Tyler School of Medicine is seeking a dedicated and highly skilled physician with expertise in non-tuberculous mycobacteria (NTM) to join our growing faculty. UT Tyler is a nationally recognized Bronchiectasis and NTM Center and an integral member of the Bronchiectasis and NTM Care Center Network, as designated by the Bronchiectasis and NTM Association and the COPD Foundation.
This position is ideally suited for a board-certified or board-eligible physician in Pulmonary Critical Care or Infectious Diseases with a strong clinical and/or research background in NTM diseases. The selected candidate will serve as the Clinical Director of the UT Tyler NTM Center for Innovation and provide outpatient consultation for patients with NTM and bronchiectasis. This role offers the opportunity to lead and shape a multidisciplinary program focused on advancing diagnosis, treatment, and scientific understanding of NTM infections while delivering outstanding patient care.
About the Position:
Clinical Care:
- Provide expert consultation and management of patients with NTM diseases, including pulmonary and extrapulmonary infections
- Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams, including pulmonologists, infectious disease specialists, radiologists, and clinical microbiologists, to ensure comprehensive care
- Lead and support the development of specialized NTM clinical programs and patient care protocols
Research and Education:
- Conduct and support clinical and/or translational research focused on NTM diseases, including epidemiology, pathogenesis, antimicrobial susceptibility, and treatment outcomes
- Mentor and teach medical students, residents, fellows, and other healthcare professionals
- Present findings at national and international conferences and publish in peer-reviewed journals
Program Development:
- Collaborate with laboratory teams to optimize diagnostic and susceptibility testing for NTM isolates
- Partner with hospital administration and other stakeholders to develop and expand NTM-related services
- Engage with patient advocacy groups and contribute to public health initiatives addressing mycobacterial diseases
Minimum Qualifications:
- Medical Degree (MD, DO, or equivalent)
- Board certification or eligibility in Pulmonary Critical Care or Infectious Diseases
- Demonstrated clinical experience and expertise in managing NTM diseases
- Strong interest and/or proven track record in NTM research, including publications or funded projects
- Excellent communication, leadership, and collaborative skills
Preferred Experience:
- Prior involvement in establishing or leading NTM-focused clinical or research programs
- Experience with advanced diagnostic methods and susceptibility testing for mycobacteria
- Familiarity with clinical trial design and implementation
- Engagement with national or international NTM or mycobacterial organizations

About the Facilities:
UT Health Henderson is a 96-bed short term acute care hospital offering comprehensive medical services, including a 24-hour emergency designated as a Level IV trauma center and Level III Stroke Center. The facility features advanced surgical suites, state-of-the-art diagnostic imaging, obstetrics, orthopedics, general surgery, and a dedicated sleep laboratory.
UT Health Jacksonville is a 33-bed short-term acute care facility providing high-quality, patient-centered care to the community. This facility is a 24-hour emergency care center, designated as a Level IV Trauma Center and a Level IV Acute Stroke Facility, providing critical and time-sensitive care for a wide range of medical emergencies. It includes a six-bed Intensive Care Unit (ICU) to support patients requiring close monitoring and advanced critical care. The Labor and Delivery Department features modern LDRP suites (Labor, Delivery, Recovery, and Postpartum), ensuring a seamless and family-centered childbirth experience. ETs and FCs form the backbone of a ship's Combat Systems department aboard carriers, cruisers, destroyers, and other surface combatants, as well as at repair and technical activities ashore.
Key Responsibilities Serve as an Electronics Technician (ET) or Fire Controlman (FC) after training, based on performance and Navy needs; as an ET, maintain and repair radar, communication, and navigation equipment including transmitters, receivers, displays, and shipboard communications suites such as SATCOM and HF; as an FC, operate, maintain, and repair fire control radars, computers, large screen displays, local area networks, weapon control consoles, and automatic gun systems; troubleshoot complex electronic and electro mechanical faults using technical documentation, test equipment, and established procedures; maintain configuration control, documentation, and logs that support inspections, certifications, and combat system readiness.
What to Expect Hands on technical work that blends classroom, computer based training, and intensive lab practice; frequent troubleshooting under time pressure to restore mission critical combat systems and communications; strict adherence to safety procedures, configuration control, technical documentation, and test routines; team based maintenance and watchstanding afloat and ashore, often on rotating shifts to support around the clock operations; progressive responsibility as you qualify on systems, earn Navy Enlisted Classifications, and advance in rate.

Pathways, Training & Advancement Recruit Training followed by Apprentice Technical Training at Great Lakes, Illinois, covering basic electronics, circuitry, safety, digital theory, microcomputers, fiber optics, test equipment, and troubleshooting; strand training in either the Fire Controlman or Electronics Technician track, with FCs focusing on radar, ballistics, and fire control basics, and ETs focusing on communications suites and radar systems; follow on A School and platform or system specific C Schools, often with college credit recommended by the American Council on Education; accelerated advancement to E4 upon completion of initial school training and all advancement requirements, with continued promotion based on performance, time in rate, and professional development.

MHS is hiring married couples to serve as Full-time Flex Houseparents. In this unique and life-changing career, couples reside in on-campus student homes and provide care, guidance, supervision, and support for a group of approximately 8–13 students living in the home. Flex Houseparents play a vital role in creating a structured, family-like environment that fosters students’ academic, emotional, and social development so they can reach their full potential.
Responsibilities include:
Providing daily supervision and mentorship
Managing household routines and student schedules
Administering medications and ensuring student wellness
Driving students to activities, as well as planning and actively engaging in developmental and recreational activities with students
Leading daily devotions and accompanying students to Sunday Chapel
Overseeing budgeting and household reporting
Upon hire, Flex Houseparents initially support various student homes and follow a working schedule of nine consecutive days on duty, followed by three days off.
On weekdays, houseparents have unscheduled time while students are in school. Flex Houseparents eventually transition into a Placed Houseparent role, where they live and work with the same group of students in their own student home.
Benefits include:
Salary: $44,768.00 per person (approximately $168,000 total compensation per couple, including free housing, meals while on duty, utilities, and more)

Commitment to a smoke-free and weapon-free campus; no alcohol permitted while on duty
Pet limitations: only fish and one dog of approved breeds allowed
Valid U.S. driver’s license and ability to become certified to drive student home vans
Comfort leading students in daily devotions and accompanying them to Judeo-Christian Sunday Chapel services (proselytizing prohibited)
High school diploma or GED required
Ability to lift to 50 lbs.
Demonstrated integrity and professionalism; MHS staff serve as role models for students
