Qualifications
Education: Juris Doctor (JD) from an accredited law school
1-5 years of experience in complex estate planning, trusts, wills, real estate transactions, deed drafting, probate, and case management for court proceedings; understanding of the basic characteristics of financial investments, e.g., annuities, life insurance, retirement accounts, stocks, bonds, etc. Trust administration, probate and basic real estate transaction skills are necessary.ย
Licensure: Valid license to practice law in Tennessee and in good standing with the Board of Professional responsibility.
Excellent verbal and written communication skills. English primary language.
Excellent organizational and time management skills. Must be able to work independently with minimal supervision and direction.
Attention to detail is critically important with strong analytical skills.
High level of skill with computer programs required: Microsoft Outlook, Excel and Word. Lexis Nexis MyCaseยฎ preferred.
Responsibilities
Legal
ย ย ย ย ย ย ย ย ย ย ย ย ย ย ย Complex estate and long-term care planning (i.e. Medicaid and VA), document drafting, conducts estate planning document signings; probate administration; trust funding and beneficiary changes.
Client Relations
Keep case files organized and up to date; maintain calendar and meet deadlines; document all client related activities; input information into file database and case management software.
Keep clients informed by maintaining contact and communicating case progress.
Demonstrate a high command of business writing and well-developed math skills.
Organize, present, and participate in educational programs for clients and families.
Community Relations and Marketing
Represent the firm to financial institutions, government agencies and court personnel through frequent contact.
Participate in professional organizations to enhance skills and communicate with the firmโs services.
Educate the community about the firmโs services and service model through speaking engagements, and networking.
Collaborate with financial advisors, and other professionals to ensure integrated planning solutions.
General
Demonstrate exceptional client communication skills, a desire to help others and be comfortable working with older people, people with disabilities, their families and other professionals.
Display high frustration tolerance with patience and kindness toward clients and co-workers
Maintain strict confidentiality for the firmโs clients.
Possess a professional appearance and demeanor.
Work independently.
Work a regular full-time weekly schedule from 8:30 a.m. to 5:00 pm with a one-hour lunch.
Valid Tennessee driverโs license and reliable vehicle.
Other duties as assigned.
