About the School of Psychology

The School of Psychology at the Georgia Institute of Technology places a strong emphasis on scientific research, discovery & innovation, and interdisciplinary education. Housed in the beautifully renovated J. S. Coon Building, a historical landmark in the center of campus, the School is a member of the College of Sciences. The Subjective Uncertainty and Belief Lab at Georgia Institute of Technology is seeking a Postdoctoral Fellow under the supervision of PI Mark Himmelstein and in collaboration with David Budescu of Fordham University.

The responsibility of the position is to support an NSF grant funded project for using planned missing data research designs to estimate how people use advice to revise their judgments without requiring them to directly report their independent prior beliefs first. There are two directions this position could potentially be focused on, which would ideally overlap:

• Developing new cognitive models for how people revise probability judgments.
• Extending research designs that use planned missing data methods for addressing measurement reactivity areas beyond just advice taking research.

Ph.D. in Psychology, Computational Social Science, Economics, Data Science or a related field by the start date.

• Theoretical background in topics related to judgment and decision making, preferably advice taking research and Judge Advisor Systems.
• Experience in either psychometric or computational cognitive modeling.
• Experience with missing data imputation methods.
• A strong track record of peer reviewed publications and presentations.
• Strong interpersonal and communication skills.

We are seeking a visionary, creative, and entrepreneurial academic leader who will develop a nationally and internationally recognized center of excellence for studying the intersection of arts practice and emerging technologies.

The chair will have the opportunity to shape a new school that will expand Georgia Tech's academic and research activities and reputation at the intersection of technology and the arts, with the opportunity for substantial impact within Georgia Tech, the state of Georgia, and beyond. The School of Electrical and Computer Engineering (ECE) at the Georgia Institute of Technology is one of the largest producers of electrical engineers and computer engineers in the United States. Almost 2,600 students are enrolled in the School's graduate and undergraduate programs, and in the last academic year, 801 degrees were awarded. The Ultrasound Imaging and Therapeutics Research Laboratory ( ) seeks self-motivated and talented individuals to participate in and support operations of a research laboratory. Our mission is to develop and translate approaches, devices, algorithms, and agents with clinical impact based on a synergistic combination of biomedical imaging, image-guided therapy, and bionanotechnology. Overall, we are a collaborative, full-spectrum research group leading the discovery, development, and integration of biomedical imaging technologies and theranostic agents for both fundamental research and clinical applications.

The Ultrasound Imaging and Therapeutics Research Laboratory is part of the School of Electrical & Computer Engineering (ECE), and the Department of Biomedical Engineering (BME) at Georgia Institute of Technology and Emory University School of Medicine.

The research engineer will provide technical oversight of the research laboratory operations focused on in-vitro/preclinical/clinical imaging. The responsibilities will include daily interactions with graduate students, post-doctoral fellows, clinical collaborators, and other researchers, technical and other support to research staff, and direct reporting to the Principal Investigator.

Responsibilities/Duties:

• Designing and fabricating electro-mechanical systems;

Georgia Institute of Technology seeks a visionary leader to serve as the next Chair of the School of Economics within the Ivan Allen College of the Liberal Arts. The desired appointment start date is no later than July 1, 2026.

The chair will lead a group of more than 30 diverse and talented faculty and staff working in the core research areas of development economics, econometrics, environmental and energy economics, health economics, international trade, and microeconomic theory in fulfilling the research, teaching, and service missions of the School. The chair will provide strategic and operational leadership including, but not limited to: new faculty recruitment, promotion of faculty scholarship and teaching excellence, program quality improvement, fundraising through development and research projects, and budget management.

The chair will be expected to:

• Lead high-impact initiatives, practices, and strategies that support educational experiences and student success;
• Envision, articulate, and advance the Schools unique mission within Georgia Tech and Ivan Allen College of Liberal Arts strategic plan;
• Foster a collaborative and supportive work environment that supports career development and advancement for staff and faculty;
• Provide effective financial, academic, and personnel management;
• Build effective working relationships with constituencies within and outside of the Ivan Allen College of Liberal Arts and Georgia Tech;
• Augment the Schools financial resources through philanthropic fundraising while aiding facultys pursuit of sponsored projects; and
• Support research and programming within a multidisciplinary setting across the College and the Institute, and with external communities or partnerships.

Ph.D. in Economics or the equivalent. A record of research/scholarship, teaching, professional service, and leadership commensurate with the status of full professor at a Research 1 institution.

The ideal candidate should possess effective communication, leadership, and organizational skills. Experience leading a school or department within a technical institute or a STEM-focused research university is preferred. The qualities of the successful candidate for Chair include:

Evidence of successful leadership at the department, school, college, or campus level(s);
Experience with program creation and/or innovation, or other areas related to curricular and co-curricular student success,
Experience with strategic planning at the department, college, or campus levels;
Experience managing budgets and/or internal or external funding;
Experience supporting and developing faculty and staff on their career journeys;
Aptitude for engagement with alumni and donors in development and fundraising activities;
Commitment to cultivating collegiality and collaboration and to modeling empathy, integrity, and transparency;
Commitment to inclusive leadership strategies and recognition of differences among students, faculty, and staff.
