Northrop Grumman Defense Systems is seeking Embedded Software Engineers for the Flight / Guidance Navigation & Control (GN&C) Software Team to develop systems software design & architecture. This position will be located in Roy, Utah or Huntsville, Alabama and will support the Sentinel Program.
What Youβll Get To Do:
Design, develop, document, test, and debug software/system applications. Conduct multidisciplinary research and collaborate with equipment designers and/or hardware engineers in the planning, design, development, and utilization of embedded systems for safety and mission critical software. Must be able to work and collaborate with a team of software engineers in an Agile environment to meet critical milestones. Ensure program mandated software standards and compliance criteria are met. Understand and can develop in a continuous integration tool chain environment meeting technical and compliance requirements.
Active Secret Clearance:
β’ Must have an active U.S. Government DoD Secret security clearance at time of application, current and within scope, with an ability to obtain and maintain Special Access Program (SAP) approval within a reasonable period of time, as
determined by the company to meet its business need
β’ Embedded Software Engineer: Bachelorβs Degree in a Science, Technology, Engineering or Mathematics (STEM) discipline from an accredited university and 2 years of relevant engineering experience, OR a Master's in STEM.
β’ Principal Embedded Software Engineer: Bachelorβs Degree in a Science, Technology, Engineering or Mathematics (STEM) discipline from an accredited university and 5 years of relevant engineering experience, OR a Master's in STEM with 3 years of related engineering experience, OR a PhD in STEM with 1 years of related engineering experience.
β’ Active DoD Secret clearance with a reinvestigation date occurring in the last 6 years.
β’ US Citizenship with Ability to obtain Special Program Access (SAP)
β’ 2+ year experience in developing software/writing code in C/C++/C#, Python, Java, or similar programming language
β’ 2+ year experience in object-oriented programming and design patterns, hardware/software communication interfaces, real-time and post processing data analytics
β’ 2+ years of full life cycle of software development and Agile software development
Preferred Qualifications:
Β β’ Experience developing software for a hard real time system or hardware devices
β’ Experience developing or debugging software targeted for an embedded system
β’ Experience with the Atlassian Tool Suite

Primary Level Salary Range: $79,300.00 - $118,900.00Secondary Level Salary Range: $98,400.00 - $147,600.00The above salary range represents a general guideline; however, Northrop Grumman considers a number of factors when determining base salary offers such as the scope and responsibilities of the position and the candidate's experience, education, skills and current market conditions.Depending on the position, employees may be eligible for overtime, shift differential, and a discretionary bonus in addition to base pay. The selected candidate will join our team of qualified individuals. This role will be a member of a team of system engineers who will continue to mature the interfaces products for the weapon system from Preliminary Design Review phase to a Critical Design Review and beyond. The role includes working in a Model Based Systems Engineering (MBSE) environment. The successful candidate will be responsible for leading and/or supporting the development of at least the following key interface artifacts:
- Interface Control Documents (ICDs)
- Interface Requirements & Verification Plans
- Interface Logical and Physical Architecture
- Interface Nx CAD Models

This positionβs standard work schedule is a 9/80. The 9/80 schedule allows employees who work a nine-hour day Monday through Thursday to take every other Friday off.Β Β

Job Title : Nuclear Engineer (Naval Reactors Engineer) Category / Component : Officer β’ Active Overview Design, regulate, and oversee the Navy's nuclear propulsion program, including reactor design, fleet operations, and eventual defueling and decommissioning of nuclear powered ships and submarines from Naval Reactors Headquarters and associated Department of Energy laboratories and shipyards.
Key Responsibilities Provide technical direction in areas such as reactor and fluid systems design, reactor physics, materials development, component design for steam generators, pumps, and valves, instrumentation and control for reactor and propulsion plants, testing and quality control, radiation shielding, and chemistry and radiological controls; review designs and analyses from laboratories, shipyards, and industry partners; coordinate with fleet units to ensure safe and reliable nuclear plant operation.
