Basic Requirements

Department: Emergency Room (ER) – RN

Experience Required

- Minimum 2 years recent ER experience
- Travel experience required
- EPIC experience required

Certifications

- BLS
- ACLS
- PALS
- TNCC (may be waived for strong ER experience)

Facility / ER Overview

- Trauma Level: Level 2 (Adults & Pediatrics)
- Specialty: Stroke & STEMI receiving facility
- Total ER Beds: 35
- Trauma Bays: 2
- Fast Track: Yes – 8 beds
- Average Daily ER Volume: ~111 patients

Patient Care

Nurse to Patient Ratio

- 1:4

Common Diagnoses

- Trauma / GSW
- Violent crime injuries
- Stroke
- STEMI
- Mental health
- Pediatric respiratory illness
- Fractures

Drips

- All critical care drips

ER Layout & Workflow

Triage

- Separate triage area
- ESI triage algorithm
- Travelers can perform triage

Psych Rooms

- Dedicated psych/seclusion rooms
- Staffed by ER nurses

Holding Area

- Patients intermixed within ER

Security

- 24/7 security
- Located in ER during peak volume times

Staff & Support

Providers

- ER Physicians and Mid-levels
- Peak times: 2 MDs + 3 Mid-levels

Charge Nurse

- Team Lead 24/7

Support Staff

- LPNs (nights)

- Paramedics (IVs & tech duties)

Lab / Blood Draws

- Done by RNs & Techs

EKGs

- Done by Techs & Nurses

Respiratory Therapy

- X-ray & CT: Located next door

Transport

- 9 AM – 9 PM: Transport team moves patients
- After 9 PM: Nurses transport patients
- Critical patients: Always transported by nurse
