How you’ll make an impact in this role
  • Clinical Excellence & Care Delivery: Deliver high-quality direct nursing care by adhering to organizational protocols while implementing and monitoring customized patient care plans.

What minimum requirements you’ll need

Job Summary and Qualifications

Performs direct patient care within the scope of the nurse practice act, as it applies to the outcomes and process in the Valve Clinic. Plans, coordinates and implements the care of the valve patient in the outpatient setting. Scope of the role includes acting as a liaison with physicians, patient/families and ancillary departments. Assessment of financial, medica land social resources of current and potential valve program patients in conjunction with the research team. Coordination of information flow among the medical, nursing, and financial and research staff as appropriate. Development and implement a teaching plan with the patient and family. To include lab valves, medication overview and diagnosis related information. Assist the research team in the coordination of patient charts, diagnostic studies and other applicable information per protocol.  

What you will do:


  • Work with supervisor to plan, coordinate, and implement care of the valve patients in the outpatient clinic. 

  • Review clinical progress of patients and coordinates communications to referring, valve and primary care physicians along with the research team. 
  • Plan, organize and provide direct care to the valve patient. 

  • Facilitate the development of a patient specific teaching plan. 

  • Review patient’s current health information, relay information and make referrals as necessary to the physician and research partners. 

  • Serve as a resource for the hospital staff regarding the care of the valve patient. 

  • Educate patient and families regarding planned procedures, medications and treatments. 

  • Make referral as appropriate as noted by the physician 
  • Coordinate information among: 

  1. Referring, primary care and valve clinic physicians
  2. Research team 
  3. Ancillary departments 

  • Answer patient/family phone calls, field questions appropriately 

  • Participate in creating an environment that implements the mission, vision, and values of the organization 

  • Encourages collegiality when integrating valve services with other departments. 

  • Responsible for full nursing assessment of clinic patients, including documentation of vital signs, sign and symptoms of disease process, NYHA and angina class. 

  • Responsible for reviewing all diagnostic imaging studies, lab values and notify MD as appropriate for abnormal findings. 

  • Knowledge and application of pertinent computer programs and imaging software

Other Requirements

Citizenship: You must be a U.S. Citizen to apply for this position.

Citizenship: You must be a U.S. Citizen to apply for this position.

Residency: You must have had primary U.S. residency (includes protectorates as declared under international law) for at least three of the last five years.

Age Restriction: In accordance with Public Law 100-238, this position is covered under law enforcement retirement provisions. Candidates must be referred for selection to the Border Patrol Agent position before reaching their 40th birthday in accordance with Department of Homeland Security Directive 251-03. The age restriction may not apply if you are currently serving or have previously served in a federal civilian law enforcement (non-military) position covered by Title 5 U.S.C. 8336(c) or Title 5 U.S.C. 8412(d).

Veterans’ Preference: You may also be eligible for an excepted service Veterans Recruitment Appointment (VRA). The age restriction does not apply if you are Veterans' Preference eligible.

Formal Training: After you are hired, you will be detailed to the U.S. Border Patrol Academy in Artesia, New Mexico, for approximately six (6) months of intensive instruction in immigration and nationality laws, law enforcement and USBP-specific operations, driver training, physical techniques, firearms, and other courses. Border Patrol work requires the ability to speak and read Spanish, as well as English. Border Patrol Agents will be provided training to become proficient with the Spanish language at the Academy.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS;

  • Master’s Degree in social work, psychology, rehabilitation, activity therapies, counseling or education and 1 year of paid professional behavioral health experience.
