Job Summary and QualificationsAs a Registered Nurse, you will be responsible for delivering high-quality, patient-centered care in line with the requirements of the department and the standards of practice for the relevant state and specialty. Collaborating with medical providers and the care team, you will provide personalized, comprehensive, and compassionate care, following established nursing models such as "Assess, Perform, Teach, and Manage." What you will do in this role:
- Assess the patient's condition during admission and each scheduled shift, promptly identifying and reporting any changes in patient status.
- Perform procedures, monitoring, or other functions as ordered by the medical provider(s), and ensure thorough and timely documentation of care administration in the patient's medical record. - Administer prescribed medications, monitor the patient for therapeutic response, and take appropriate action in the event of an unintended response to the medication.
- Provide exceptional care by responding promptly to patient requests, proactively anticipating patient needs, and resolving them.
- Educate patients, families, and caregivers about the patient's medical condition, treatment plan, medications, possible side effects, and follow-up measures, ensuring complete understanding by translating complex medical terminology.
- Basic Cardiac Life Support must be obtained within 30 days of employment start date
- Associate Degree, or Bachelors Degree, or Registered Nurse Diploma
- 6 months minimum RN experience required preferably in the same skill area
- Active TX RN License . Those with compact License will need to be endorsed within 60 days from start date

CHRISTUS Santa Rosa Hospital - Westover Hills (CSRH-WH) is a 150-bed hospital serving the fastest growing area of San Antonio. Specialized care includes orthopedic and surgical services, ICU, women’s services, a newborn nursery, comprehensive cardiovascular care from diagnostics to open heart surgery, vascular lab, sleep center, emergency services, the CHRISTUS Weight Loss Institute, wound care, rehabilitation, and more. The campus also boasts an Outpatient Imaging Center and three medical plazas, one of which houses our CHRISTUS Santa Rosa Family Medicine Residency Program and CHRISTUS Santa Rosa Family Health Center.
Our 27-bed Emergency Department isdesignatedas a Level 4 Trauma Center. The ED is capable of providing emergency,urgentand non-urgent care to patients of all ages. Patients in need of medical-surgical and sub-specialty services are seen and treated in the Emergency Department. The patients seeking care have a wide range of needs from basic ambulatory care to trauma intervention and life support. We are a primary Percutaneous Coronary Intervention (PCI) center and Primary Stroke Center. Pediatric Surgical Unit. The successful candidate will play a critical role in providing exceptional care to pediatric patients undergoing surgical procedures. This position involves ensuring the safety, comfort, and well-being of patients throughout the perioperative process. Additionally, the RN will be responsible for managing tracheostomy (trach) care with ventilator support and addressing other respiratory conditions. The ideal candidate will demonstrate expertise in patient assessment, medication administration, post-operative care, and collaboration with a multidisciplinary team to deliver the highest standard of care to our pediatric patients.

Provides nursing care that is efficient, appropriate, and therapeutic for patients while ensuring that established security requirements are maintained (as defined by the Bexar County Adult Detention Center and Central Magistrate’s Office). Continuously monitors the condition and status of patients and delivers care that meets or exceeds established standards. EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE
Experience in correctional health care, psychiatric nursing, or nursing in an emergency environment is preferred. Prior knowledge or experience within the University Health nursing services and/or certification as a Certified Correctional Health Care Provider (CCHP) is also preferred.
LICENSURE
Must possess a current license to practice Vocational Nursing in the State of Texas. Must also maintain current CPR certification.
He/she proactively facilitates interventions to assure timely delivery of services, evaluates the effectiveness of interventions, tracks variances and/or barriers in the plan of care, and functions as the patient advocate to identify and communicate health care needs.
Bachelor’s degree in Nursing is highly preferred.
Three to five years nursing experience required.

Current licensure as a Registered Nurse with the Texas State Board of Nurse Examiners is required.
An approved case management certification (ACM, CCM or ANCC) is preferred.
