We are a 13-bed unit with 4 overflow antepartum rooms, 2 OR suites and a new 4 bed OB-ED. We have 24/7 coverage by a Hospitalist, along with a great group of physicians. Any laboring mom or preterm mom greater than 20 weeks may be seen on this unit; along with postpartum moms needing to be readmitted. Our goal is to adhere to the AWHONN standards. We closely monitor staffing to patient census which means-1:2 laboring patients, 1:1 active labor or C-section, 1:3 antepartum patients and 1:4 triage/OB-ED. We provide patient centered care as the entire health care team work together to care for mother and baby.

Responsibilities: Coordinates the delivery of quality nursing care for patients from birth through the lifecycle, as well as operational issues during his/her shift. Provides clinical care as needed when census demands. Communicates patient care, departmental issues, and staff concerns to the appropriate leader(s). Responsibilities:

Perform inpatient and/or outpatient cardiac ultrasound testing to include 2D echo / Doppler exams with bubble study, contrast as well as limited studies for cardiac function, effusion assessment and thrombus assessment. Provide complex technical care with the use of ultrasound technology for adolescent, adult, and geriatric patients and provide all necessary documentation and preliminary exam findings.
