Summary Echo Cardiology department seeking a Cardiac Sonographer to perform high quality studies.
Studies to include transthoracic echo, transesophageal, Definity contrast, saline bubble study, and stress echo.
Analysis and evaluation of all studies prepared by Sonographer will be a preliminary report sent to interpreting Cardiologist.
We are a heart and vascular hospital with 5 ICUs.
One being Newborn ICU so proficiency in pediatrics is a plus.

Demonstrates competence in delivering pre-procedure and post-procedure patient care including, but not limited to patient assessment pre- and post-procedure care and, emergency cardiac care (CPR is required).

Cardiovascular Surgery Stepdown Unit The Cardiovascular Surgical Stepdown Unit is located on the 5th floor of the Heart and Vascular Hospital.
This stepdown unit specializes in the care of structural heart, cardiac and vascular surgical patients that require the titration of inotropes, vasopressors and/or patients with increased oxygen demands, needing advanced non-invasive oxygen delivery.
The Cardiovascular Stepdown Unit is designed for patients who have moved out of intensive care but need more frequent observation/interventions by nurses to proactively detect subtle changes in patients' condition and act quickly when patients show signs of deterioration.
The design of the Cardiovascular Surgical Stepdown Unit mirrors the ICU layout and allows for quick access to resources within each workstation.
The rooms are all equipped with bedside monitors that are capable of advanced hemodynamic monitoring and wall mounted computers for easy access to electronic charts.
Nurses can effectively communicate with advanced practice providers, floor assigned pharmacists and respiratory therapists that are present on the unit.
The leadership team is shared between both the Cardiovascular Surgery ICU and the Stepdown Unit to provide an environment that fosters critical thinking and supports personal and professional growth.

Contrast- Administers oral contrast to adult and pediatric patients according to protocols, establishes intravenous lines, administers IV contrast following safe and proper injection procedures, follows correct procedure to determine contrast eligibility, checks appropriate lab values before contrast injection per protocol.

Image Transfer- Maintains thorough understanding of PACS, and transmits images to QC, UNCH's EMR, EPIC and PACS, verifies and segments images at the QC station, accesses IMPAX service tools to verify images transmission, completes, modifies and/or cancels orders in an appropriate and timely manner, cancels duplicate orders to avoid duplicate billing.
Insures that all charge information is accurate.
Verifies patient identification in accordance with UNC policy, insures that all appropriate demographic information is accurate and on the PACS images.

Other Duties- Performs task in a timely manner, runs the schedule creating a consistent workflow, volunteers to work on challenging tasks, difficult procedures and new research, produces quality diagnostic images, reviews patient's chart and reports for correlation, maintains a clean and orderly work environment, creates and keeps documentation of incidents as improvement opportunities for employees and the department.

We care for a variety of medical patients with diagnoses that include COPD, diabetes, pneumonia, renal failure, minor neurological disorders, behavioral health, as well as many others.

5HV – Cardiovascular Surgical Intensive Care Unit (CSICU) The Cardiovascular Surgical Intensive Care Unit is located on the 5 th floor of the Heart and Vascular Hospital.
