WAGI is seeking a Full-Time Advanced Registered Nurse Practitioner (ARNP) or Physician?s Assistant (PA-C) to join our gastroenterology medical practice working in our affiliated hospitals.

This role will be at MultiCare?s Good Samaritan, Tacoma General, Allenmore and Auburn hospitals on a full-time rotating schedule.

The Advanced Practice Practitioner (APP), as an independent healthcare provider, is responsible for delivering comprehensive treatment to both well and sick patients while working collaboratively within the gastroenterology health team. Via direct patient care, consultation, research, education, and partnership with other healthcare providers, demonstrates a high level of clinical experience in providing gastroenterology healthcare. Patients and families are educated by the APP on how to encourage wellbeing, avoid health complications, improve current health, and engage in acute and chronic illness. APPs are mentored by practice Physicians; PA-Cs practice within the WA State licensing to include practicing medicine with Physician supervision.

Responsibilities

  • Provide care autonomously to a case load of inpatients in affiliated hospitals
  • Conduct comprehensive or episodic health history, physical assessment, and pre-procedure workups of patients with acute or chronic gastrointestinal health problems
  • Prescribe and regulate medications per prescriptive authority in Washington State
  • Provides guidance and health education to patients to promote and maintain health within gastroenterology practice
  • Order selected diagnostic tests and procedures as indicated by the patient?s condition
  • Collaborates with physicians in managing acute and long-term medical needs of patients
  • Provides monitoring and continuity of care between physician visits; maintains and reviews patient records, charts and other pertinent information
  • Other duties as assigned

Qualifications

The following are requirements for Physician Assistant candidates:

  • Graduate of a Physician Assistant program approved by the CAHEA
  • Current WA State Physician Assistant License required
  • DEA prescriptive authority
  • Current BLS certification required
  • Current Washington State Driver?s license to be able to travel to other local clinics or hospitals as needed
  • Extensive knowledge base of physical assessment, differential diagnosis, pathophysiology, pharmacology, and management of acute and chronic patient health problems

Washington Gastroenterology has an excellent compensation and benefit package that includes the following:

Employees (and their families) who work full time (defined as working 30 or more hours per week) will be eligible for medical, dental, vision, long-term disability, accidental death and dismemberment, and basic life insurance. In addition employees are able to enroll in our company?s 401(k) plan which includes a company provided safe harbor contribution of 3% of annual earnings and the potential for a company discretionary profit sharing contribution.

All employees will be eligible to accrue PTO at a rate of .04 hours per payroll hour (1.6 hours for a 40 hour week) which can be used for and exceeds the required mandatory WA State and other local ordinances. In addition, full time employees will be eligible for a Vacation accrual with a maximum annual accrual of 77 hours as a new hire.

WAGI has 8 standard Holidays each year for which full time employees are eligible to receive paid holiday. In addition, full time employees will be given 1 Float Holiday each year that they can schedule.

WAGI provides Malpractice Insurance, a Continuing Medical Education (CME) reimbursement budget of $5,400 per two year cycle; and 5 days of paid CME Time Off per year to complete CME.

A new hire full time employee in this role will be eligible for a Hiring Bonus in the amount of $10,000.

This is a Part Time (Limited) position-Two 10 hour shifts per week (includes call twice per month including weekend rotations).

Sibley Memorial Hospital is a non-profit, full service 318 bed acute care community hospital serving the Washington, DC area. Sibley offers medical, surgical, intensive care, obstetric, oncology, orthopaedic, skilled nursing inpatient services, and a state-of-the-art 24-hour Emergency Department. Sibley's campus, with its new patient tower, is also home to the Johns Hopkins Kimmel Cancer Center, the Johns Hopkins National Proton Therapy Center, Grand Oaks - an assisted living residence - a medical building with physician offices and an ambulatory surgery and imaging center.

The Physician Assistant (Surgical PA-C, Licensed) provides direct assistance to the primary surgeon during surgical procedures. Prefer PA applicants with 5 years of experience in surgical assistance or successful completion of a Physician Assistant ? Surgical Program or Surgical residency. Knowledge of and ability to maintain sterile technique required. Knowledgeable about diagnostic ancillary testing and interpretation of test results, medications and current treatment regimes required. The Physician Assistant performs preoperative histories and physicals on patients for each attending physician. Writes post-op notes and orders for each patient in the Post Anesthesia Care Unit (PACU). May respond to calls from nursing units regarding clinical management of the surgical patients, assessing, diagnosing and writing orders on behalf of the attending physician. Performs special clinical procedures under the direction of the attending physician.

Qualifications:

  • Completion of an AMA approved Physician Assistance Master's Degree Program
  • Active DC License & NCCPA Certification
  • Active CDS/DEA licenses
  • Active PECOS enrollment
  • BLS Health Care Provider CPR and ACLS certification required
  • 5 years Surgical PA multidisciplinary work experience required, to include Laparoscopic and Robotic experience

You must be fully credentialled by the Sibley Memorial Hospital medical board with staff privileges to start working.

Salary Range: Minimum $61.47/hour - Maximum $95.27/hour. Compensation will be commensurate with equity and experience for roles of similar scope and responsibility.

In cases where the range is displayed as a $0 amount, salary discussions will occur during candidate screening calls, before any subsequent compensation discussion is held between the candidate and any hiring authority.

  • Independently perform Imaging procedures such as paracentesis, thoracentesis, aspirations, FNAs abscess drain, fluoroscopy, joint injections including pre-MRI and CT arthrograms, fluoroscopy studies such as upper and lower GI studies, hysterosalpingograms, and abscess aspirations as applicable.
  • Participate in the development and implementation of treatment plans based on imaging findings, collaborating with the referring to healthcare teams to optimize patient outcomes.
  • Report critical findings to relevant stakeholders in a timely manner.
  • Perform Intravenous starts (IV starts) and the administration of MRI and CT contrast as necessary.

Requirements

  • Current state license as a Physician Assistant (PA).
  • Eligible for State Controlled Substance License II through V.
  • Eligible for Federal DEA Certificate II through V.
  • BLS Certification for Healthcare Providers.
  • Other certification as required (e.g. ACLS, PALS, TNCC, NRP).
  • Applicable certification from a recognized certifying organization such as the National Commission of Physician Assistants.
  • Applicable experience as defined by position leadership.
