The ideal candidate will oversee a full suite of safety functions including coordinating safety committees, conducting routine inspections, and performing post-incident investigations. They will develop and implement safety policies and procedures, manage emergency response and workers' compensation processes, and ensure compliance with regulations such as those of the Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA), U.S. Department of Transportation (DOT), and the International Maritime Organization's Dangerous Goods (IMDG) code, as well as maintain oversight of Chemtel Inc. updates. They will also provide expert guidance and training across all safety areas to promote a proactive safety culture.

Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:

• Develops safety programs, including safety committees, inspections, emergency response teams and confined space, lock out/ tag out and personal protection requirements.
• Facilitates monthly safety committee meetings.
• Conducts post-accident investigations including personal injuries, equipment/vehicle/cargo damage accidents.
• Develops and conducts training on Right-to-Know laws, fire safety, emergency response, safety committee activity, confined space and monthly Safety Topics.
• Conducts reviews of OSHA, DOT and IMDG regulations to ensure company compliance.
• Develops and implements post-accident drug testing, medical treatment, and medical monitoring programs.
• Ensures vendors meet company requirements.
• Provides hazardous material shipping guidance and customer support.
• Maintains Material Safety Data Sheet files and Chemtel updates.
• Conducts safety inspections and preventative programs.
• Functions as Team Leader of the Hazardous Materials Response Team.
• Assists Safety Manager in other safety projects as assigned.
• Performs all other duties as requested.

Education:

• Bachelor's degree in business or in a related field

Experience:

• Three years' experience in the safety field including experience with OSHA and DOT regulations, emergency response, and hazardous materials leaks or spills.

Licenses:

• Valid driver's license and Valid Passport. Professional Certification in Safety, Hazardous Materials, or Emergency Response.

Travel:

• 20% travel to domestic locations and 10% to other Tropical locations.

Physical Requirements:

• Office Environment - Manual dexterity to perform repetitive motion tasks on computer. Ability to bend or stoop to retrieve lower shelf files. Ability to reach overhead to retrieve upper shelf files. ability to sit 1/3 - 2/3 of day. Ability to travel in various modes of transportation (e.g. automobile, airplane, train etc.) Occasionally exposed to outside elements during the course of traveling

Position Purpose:

This position accepts the responsibility and accountability for the delivery of patient care during the cardiology patients’/families’ stay through the use of the nursing process. Directs patient/family education and delegates to ancillary personnel while maintaining professional nursing standards.

Minimum Qualifications:

• Graduate of a program in professional nursing

1 12-hour shift per pay period

GENERAL PATIENT CARE - Meets the comfort and hygiene needs of the patient.

TECHNICAL CARE - Assists with completion of patient testing and treatment procedures, sets up and primes IV tubing, 12-lead ECG, simple tracheostomy suctioning and care, changes dressings, performs cardiopulmonary resuscitation, obtains wound and throat cultures. 

EQUIPMENT - Assists physician and professional staff in equipment supply and set up. 

TRANSPORT - Assists with ambulating patients with assistive devices such as crutches and with transfer/transport procedures. 

COMMUNICATION - Performs required documentation and communicates in a competent and effective manner to meet patient and/or family needs and regulatory requirements. Maintains strict confidentiality of patient, employee and department information to ensure patient rights. 

QUALITY IMPROVEMENT - Utilizes time and resources effectively to promote quality and cost outcomes. 

Position Requirements

Minimum Education:

Preferred: High School Diploma plus training acquired through work experience or education

Minimum Experience:

Required: Less than one year of previous job-related experience

Preferred: 1-2 years of previous job-related experience

Licensure/Certifications:

Required: Certified Nurse Assistant, BLS (Basic Life Support) through AHA

Other: Completion of a Nursing Assistant Program with placement on the Illinois Department of Health Nurse Aide Registry or verification of an equal or higher educational level in a clinically focused program. Full Time Inpatient RN Case Manager - weekday shifts with minimal weekend and holiday requirements.

CARE COORDINATION:  The Inpatient RN Care Manager works with the multidisciplinary team including physicians, staff, and payers to ensure patient's progress along the continuum of care in an efficient and cost effective manner that ensures quality outcomes. The RN Care Manager acts as a patient advocate and communication link with other departments and community resources. Facilitates multidisciplinary rounds and supports nursing staff in development of individualized, evidence-based, outcomes oriented, and safe practice

Responsible for patient assessment of complex clinical discharge needs and establishment of an appropriate plan of care with multidisciplinary team. Demonstrates critical thinking skills and oversees the care coordination of defined population. Ensures that patient goals are set with patient/family, negotiates healthcare resources and educates patient/family regarding available options of care throughout the continuum. Demonstrates clinical competence to care for a specific patient population. Conducts daily multidisciplinary rounds demonstrating ability to identify and address care coordination barriers. Facilitate patient education for safe and effective discharge.

PROFESSIONAL DEVELOPMENT: Demonstrates leadership behaviors that enhance and support team functions. Mentors and coaches staff. Maintains competencies and participates in continuing education for self and development of colleagues and students. Participates in delivering professional programs/ courses/in-services, internal and/or external, and community events. Preferred Experience: 6-10 years of previous job-related hospital and Inpatient Care Management experience

Preferred Certification: ACMA, CMGT-BC, CCM

Recent Case Management experience is preferred.

DETAILS: Recent clinical experience in medicine, surgery, critical care, telemetry, or ED is required.
