JOB DESCRIPTION:

The Diagnostic Imaging/CT Radiology Technologist is preferred to have a minimum of 3 years of experience in Diagnostic Imaging and/or CT and have committed hours to UVM Medical Center (UVMMC). They demonstrate progressive knowledge and sense of responsibility in the daily operations of the Radiology department. A Technologist in this position should expect to perform imaging examinations within both CT and Diagnostic Imaging modalities in a given shift. They operate a variety of x-ray and CT equipment to perform routine imaging, fluoroscopic and operating room procedures according to established practices under the direction of a Radiologist, Supervisor, and Lead Technologists. May be required to work weekends, holidays, and take call on a rotational basis.

EDUCATION:

Graduate of an approved school of Radiologic Technology. In good standing with the ARRT. Holds a valid CT state license. Advanced CT certification by the ARRT is required within 1 year of being hired into the position. CPR certified.

EXPERIENCE:

A minimum of three years of Radiology/CT experience is preferred. Experience with students in an accredited School of Radiology, techniques and equipment, as well as an awareness of current quality assurance practices. Job Description:
An MRI Tech I is responsible for performing complex MRI exams on varying strength magnets using powerful magnetic fields combined with radiofrequency waves. These implants include pacemakers, nerve stimulation devices and electronic pumps that can cause severe injury and or death within the MRI environment. Experience:

Knowledge/Special Skills:
For staff holding an ARRT license (not in MRI), Advanced MRI specific certification by ARRT is required within 2 years of hire within the MRI department. Staff Sonographer

JOB DESCRIPTION:

The Staff Sonographer performs diagnostic and/or breast ultrasounds and other required modalities within individual department(s). Examinations are performed independently, under physician supervision, and with peer collaboration as is appropriate.

The Staff Sonographer also helps to mentor and educate all levels of staff. The Staff Sonographer possesses the applicable credentials to the departmental role. Staff Sonographer fulfills the necessary and applicable time and experience requirements related to the position.

EDUCATION:

High school graduate or equivalent and graduate of a certified CAAHEP school of Diagnostic Medical Sonography OR Radiologic Technology/two-year allied health equivalent with extensive on-the-job ultrasound training providing the ability to perform diagnostic medical ultrasound exams.

Must hold active ARDMS registration with certification in abdomen or ob/gyn and/or breast.

EXPERIENCE:

Mammography Technologist

JOB DESCRIPTION:

The Mammography Technologist demonstrates progressive knowledge and sense of responsibility in the daily operations of the mammography area. They must have enough credits in digital mammography to perform exams on all equipment and be proficient in routine and diagnostic mammography exams. All technologists must perform weekly quality control on the mammography machines as required by the FDA and ACR. The Mammography Technologist may need to perform other radiographic procedures according to established practices and under the direction of a Radiologist, Supervisor and Chief Technologist. They need to pass a mammography competency before performing mammography exams and take the ARRT mammography boards within one year of starting in mammography. They need to assist in training other personnel and students as needed. The technologist may be required to work weekends, holidays, and on call duties as assigned.

EDUCATION:

Graduate of an accredited School of Radiologic Technology approved by CAHEA/JERCT. ARRT certified and is Licensed or License eligible with the State of Vermont.

EXPERIENCE:

The Magnetic Resonance Technologist is responsible for performing imaging procedures using sophisticated technology. The use of powerful magnetic fields combined with radiofrequency waves that require a high level of technical expertise to operate magnets of different field strengths.

The MRI Technologist must adapt to changes in technology, new imaging techniques, and safe and effective imaging of patients with medical implants. Reporting to the Quality Assurance Director, the Quality Assurance Supervisor has day-to-day responsibility over the Hayward Tyler, Inc.’s [Nuclear] Quality Program that includes execution of our processes and procedures that define the way we meet the requirements of the Nuclear Regulatory Commission (NRC), ASME B&PV Code, and US Law to ensure our products and services meet the most stringent quality expectations of our customers. This important role is also responsible for the oversight of the output and training of the Quality Control Inspection team. The Quality Assurance Supervisor can also be part of increasing efficiency of HTI through continuous improvement.

Functional Goals

• Facilitation of the HTI Quality Program.

• Successful completion of audits from regulators, certifying organizations, and customers.

• Participates in vendor audits/surveys as required.

• Witnessing vendor activities as required.

• Qualification of Quality Control inspectors.

• Qualification of Quality Assurance personnel.

• Functions as an Authorized Nuclear Inspector interface with the company.

• Along with the Quality Assurance Director, the supervisor reviews the applicable ASME B&PV Code Sections and can make suggestions for changes to the QA Manual for future implementation and improvements as necessary.

• Reports on a regular basis to the Quality Assurance Director on the status and adequacy of the QA program.

• Strives for department deliverables to be right first time.

• A champion for building Quality into all aspects of the business.

• Provides back-up to Quality Assurance Director on all key functions.

Principal Duties

Site Leadership

The Quality Assurance Supervisor serves as the primary Quality contact at the Vermont site, working closely with cross-functional teams, while reporting to the Quality Assurance Director at Hayward Tyler, Inc. in Vermont. This position oversees all QA activity at the Vermont facility, and ensures compliance with company quality standards, regulatory requirements, and customer expectations. Keep management informed of the status of QA issues impacting production, personnel, and product deployment.

Quality Activities

This position leads the Quality department at Hayward Tyler and is responsible for all Quality activities. Quality functions break down into three main areas:

• Quality Assurance

Works with the QA Director to develop and maintain the Quality Program, including the Quality Manual, Policies, Procedures, and Processes to adhere to the requirements of the Nuclear Regulatory Commission, ASME Boiler and Pressure Vessel Code, and US Law. Ensures that quality requirements for contracts are properly converted to internal actionable items, and that the ASL and vendor qualifications are audited to meet our stringent requirements. Responsible for maintaining the qualification and certification of inspectors, internal/external auditors, nondestructive examiners and welders.

• Quality Control

Responsible for the review, the control, and to assure the product and the processes for quality are followed in accordance with our program. This includes contract and supplier purchase order review, material control, calibration, product inspection, destructive and non-destructive testing, and ASME B&PV Code activities.

• Quality Improvement

Responsible for working with the QAD to drive down the cost of quality from both internally and externally manufactured products and services. Major focus is internally generated errors and warranty costs. Responsible for driving a “right the first time” culture.

The Quality Assurance Supervisor also participates in the efforts to recruit, train, review, and mentor the Quality staff. They also may represent Hayward Tyler and its commitment to Nuclear Quality on ASME Committees, NIAC and other nuclear industry organizations and events.

Minimum Qualifications:

• AS in Engineering or equivalent job experience (2 plus years in technical position)

• Work experience in a Quality Assurance role in the commercial nuclear industry preferred.

• Commercial Nuclear audit experience required with Lead Auditor qualification preferred.

• ASQ Certified Quality Engineer, or Auditor is a plus.

• Fundamental understanding of the audit process including types of audits, planning, preparation, execution, reporting results and follow-up.

• Capability to learn and develop NDE experience from the organization.

• ASME B&PV Code experience in Section III and/or Section VIII preferred.

• Developed understanding of problem-solving and quality improvement tools and techniques. This includes knowledge of planning tools, quality tools, preventive and corrective actions, and how to overcome barriers to quality improvements.

• Fundamental understanding of quality philosophies, principles, systems, methods, tools, standards, organizational and team dynamics, customer expectations and satisfaction, supplier relations and performance, leadership, training, interpersonal relationships, improvement systems and professional ethics.

• Fundamental understanding of a quality system and its development, documentation and implementation to domestic and international standards or requirements.

• Ensures that work/escalated issues are addressed and completed in a timely manner and that delays and revised time frames are communicated.

• Ability to read & interpret ASME Code, engineering drawings, standards and specifications.

• Expected travel is up to 15% yearly.

• Proficient in Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook and the Internet.

• Strong leadership, interpersonal, analytical and problem-solving skills.

• Develops proficiency with Reinsurance programs and determining where to best place a case.

• Communicates & negotiates with Field Partners to explain modified or declined decisions & assist in policy placement. ​
