What You Will Do in This Role: 

• The role of the OR Tech II is toassistthe OR team in the care of patients, equipment,and supplies.  
• The OR Tech II in 701 Surgery provides care for birth to pediatric, pediatric/child patients between 1 to 11 years of age; adolescent patients between 12 to 17 years of age; adult patients between 18 to 64 years; and geriatric patients 65 years and older.  
• The surgical technologist in the first scrub role handles the instruments,supplies,and equipment necessary during the surgical procedure.  
• The OR Tech II understands the procedure being performed and anticipates the needs of the surgeon.  
• The OR Tech II has the necessary knowledge and ability to ensure quality patient care during the operative procedure and is constantly on vigil for maintenance of the sterile field.  
• When the OR Tech II is in the second scrubrole,theyassistthe surgeon and/or surgical assistant during the operative procedure by carrying out tasks including sponging, suctioning, cutting suture, holdingretractorsand manipulating the endoscopic camera.  
• This role is distinct from that of the first scrub and surgical first assistant.  

What Qualifications You Will Need: 

• Graduate of an accredited school of Certified Operating Room Technicians (CORT) 
• Certified Surgical Technologist (CST) fromthe NationalBoard of Surgical Technology and Surgical Assisting (NBSTSA) preferred. Basic Cardiac Life Support (BLS) from American Heart Association or American Red Crossrequiredupon hire 
• In addition to meeting the requirements of an OR Tech I position, must also be competent to perform as first scrub in three of the four following specialty areas: Robotic, Total Joints, Neuro/Spine and Vascular Surgery

What you will do in this role:   

• The role of the Surgical Technician is to assist the OR team in the care of patients, equipment, and supplies.  
• The Surgical Technician in Surgery provides care for adolescent patients between 12 to 17 years of age; adult patients between 18 to 64years; and geriatric patients 65 years and older.  
• The surgical technologist in the first scrub role handles the instruments, supplies, and equipment necessary during the surgical procedure.  
• The Surgical Technician understands the procedure being performed and anticipates the needs of the surgeon.  
• The Surgical Technician has the necessary knowledge and ability to ensure quality patient care during the operative procedure and is constantly on vigil for maintenance of the sterile field.  
• When the Surgical Technician is in the second scrub role, they assist the surgeon and/or surgical assistant during the operative procedure by carrying out tasks including sponging, suctioning, cutting suture, holding retractors and manipulating the endoscopic camera.

What You Will Do in This Role:

What Qualifications You Will Need: 

• ON CALL First Scrub tech- must be able to scrub independently, without backups.
• NIGHTS 7pm-7am. Guaranteed 40 hours.
• Graduate of an accredited school of Certified Operating Room Technicians (CORT) 
• Experience in a Level I or II Trauma Center preferred
• 3-5+ years of experience minimum 
• Hospital experience preferred
• Requires more experience than Ambulatory or OB
• Certified Surgical Technologist (CST) from the National Board of Surgical Technology and Surgical Assisting (NBSTSA) preferred. Basic Cardiac Life Support (BLS) from American Heart Association or American Red Cross required upon hire 
• In addition to meeting the requirements of an OR Tech II position, must also be competent to perform as FIRST SCRUB in three of the four following specialty areas: Robotic, Total Joints, Neuro/Spine and Vascular Surgery

Under the direction of a Registered Nurse, the Surgical Tech contributes to the company’s mission and vision by assisting with the provision of safe and effective nursing care in accordance with a defined scope of practice within the operating room. • Assist in preparing the operative suite for surgery by checking and gathering supplies, equipment, and instruments
• Ensure that surgical asepsis is maintained in the handling of instruments, sponges, sutures, drains, needles, and dressings
• Assist in the turnover of the O.R. suites between cases, disposing of trash and linens, and cleaning of equipment and environmental surfaces
• Prepare procedure room for use the following day by bringing in equipment, setting up, "pulling cases" accurately, and reporting to supervisor items that are needed and not available

Qualifications you will need:

• Graduate of an accredited Surgical Technology program (preferred)
• One year experience in an operating room setting (preferably in an ambulatory surgery center)
• Graduate of an accredited Surgical Technology program as required per facility practice and state regulatory requirement; otherwise preferred
• Valid BCLS Certification upon employment ***Online certification not acceptable
