Senior HVAC Service Technician
Location: Confidential – Commercial Service Territory
Employment Type: Full-Time
Travel: Occasional regional travel with some overnight work
Overview
A leading provider of commercial HVAC solutions is seeking an experienced Senior HVAC Service Technician to support service, maintenance, and repair operations for large commercial HVAC systems. This role involves diagnosing, repairing, and maintaining complex equipment while ensuring systems operate efficiently and reliably.
The technician will also help mentor junior technicians and support rebuilds and retrofits of large commercial HVAC equipment.
Key Responsibilities
- Perform preventative maintenance and service on commercial HVAC equipment including coil cleaning, tube brushing, filter replacement, belt replacement, and equipment lubrication
- Diagnose and repair issues with chillers, water source heat pumps, fan coil units, rooftop units, applied air handling units, cooling towers, and condenser systems
- Inspect equipment and identify potential issues to prevent unexpected downtime or system failures
- Analyze system performance data and monitor chiller trends to ensure optimal efficiency
- Perform warranty-related inspections and testing to verify proper system operation
- Support rebuilds and retrofits of commercial HVAC systems, including centrifugal equipment
- Provide guidance and hands-on mentorship to entry-level and mid-level technicians
- Document service activity including service reports, billing documentation, timecards, and inventory usage
- Communicate with customers before, during, and after service calls to provide updates and explain technical findings
- Maintain compliance with safety regulations, operational procedures, and cleanliness standards
- Participate in technical training and continue developing new service and troubleshooting skills
Qualifications
Required
- High School Diploma or GED
- Minimum 5+ years of commercial HVAC service experience
- Valid driver’s license with acceptable driving record
- Ability to participate in rotational emergency on-call support
- Strong troubleshooting and diagnostic skills for commercial HVAC systems
Preferred
- HVAC technical school certification or Associate’s Degree
- EPA Universal Certification
- OSHA 10 Certification
- Current First Aid / CPR certification
- Experience mentoring or training junior technicians
