Provides skilled direct patient care (dialysis) and monitoring of renal dialysis patients.

Operates all renal dialysis equipment and recognizes changes in the renal patient's condition while on dialysis.

Administers medications and access hemodialysis catheters for the patient care techs as assigned.

Three years recent experience in general patient care and successful completion of 3 months probation period is required.

Verification of course completion in accordance with all American Heart Association Basic Cardiac Life Support and Health Care Provider guidelines is required.

Under general supervision, the Clinical Transplant Coordinator I will use clinical management, consultation, education and research to promote quality care for the specific transplant patient populations.

Supports and maintains the University Health System's policies, protocols, values and guest relations.

Directly accountable to the Director and the Supervisor, Clinical Transplant Nurse.

May direct activities and services provided by personnel in assigned area, such as Licensed Vocational Nurses, non-licensed nursing and secretarial support staff.

Graduation from an accredited school of nursing with an RN and one year of nursing experience required.

Will develop a plan to attain a Bachelor's Degree in Nursing.

Knowledge of transplant, health care trends, community and regional resources.

An ability to establish cooperative working relationships with diverse groups and individuals, medical staff and other health care disciplines and understanding of the consultative process.

Current RN licensure in the State of Texas.

Current American Heart Association, Basic Cardiac Life Support Healthcare Provider certification required.

Attain CITI research certification within six months from date of hire.

(CITI certification is not required for coordinators in lung transplant, post-transplant, live donor transplant or disease management nurses).

Functions as an integral member of the physician-led care team that provides primary care including preventive care and on-going health maintenance for selected groups of patients.

Participates in the care of well, acutely ill and chronically ill patients.

BSN is required.

Recent patient care experience in transplant or at least one year of experience as a registered nurse is required.

National certification in transplant is preferred.

Must be currently licensed as a Registered Nurse in the State of Texas.

Must maintain current AHA BLS or higher.

ACLS preferred.

Demonstration of experience in curriculum development and implementation of adult learning principles is required.
