Responsibilities:
Collaborate with your fellow EMTs and management to ensure top tier patient care.
Be flexible as emergency services o perate on a 24-hour clock - your work shift schedule may vary due to the nature of the business.
Remain up to date with current standards of care, including equipment functions and uses and all certifications, l icenses and registrations.
Conduct yourself in a courteous, helpful, and professional manner when dealing with patients, co-workers, supervisors, and the public.
Recognize and treat any medical condition with a ppropriate techniques , equipment, and knowledge of all State and County protocols.
Provide top-tier medical transport to medical facilities by assuming responsibility for medical care of the patient and carrying out established policies and procedures.
M aintain rig cleanliness by stocking the rigs and taking ownership of your space.
Gather patient billing information and a ppropriate billing signatures.
Prepare and s ubmit a pre-hospital patient care report.
Respond promptly to assignments as required by the Dispatch Center.

Requirements:
New York State Paramedic License
Must obtain Hudson Valley REMAC Certification within 30 days of hire
Valid Drivers License (for a minimum of 2 years) and an acceptable driving record

Salary and Benefits
Annual base salary for newly appointed BPAs varies per grade, as follows: GL-5/GL-7 $51,632 - $92,219 per year. Border Patrol Agents are eligible to select from an array of federal employment benefits that include health, dental and other insurance plans, a generous annual and sick leave program, and participation in the Thrift Savings Plan, a retirement plan akin to a traditional ROTH 401(k) offering.
*Recruitment Incentive* Newly appointed Border Patrol Agents (as defined in 5 CFR 575.102) will be eligible for up to $20,000 in incentives. The first $10,000 will be paid upon successful completion of the Border Patrol Academy, with the remaining $10,000 awarded for accepting a prioritized location such as Sierra Blanca, Presidio, Sanderson, Comstock, Freer or Hebbronville, TX; Lordsburg, NM; or Ajo, AZ.
*Retention Incentive* Newly appointed Border Patrol Agents may also qualify for up to $40,000 in additional incentives distributed over their first four years.
Duty Locations
IMPORTANT NOTICE: Duty assignments available at the time of offer may include the Southwest Border, including prioritized locations.
U.S. Border Patrol determines duty assignments at the time of offer based on operational needs, which may or may not align with candidates’ first-choice preferences. Relocation may be required.
Duty location impacts pay rates; locality pay for federal law enforcement is higher in some locations than others. A fully trained BPA may be eligible for up to an additional 25% of base pay per the BPA Pay Reform Act of 2014. This is a career ladder position with a grade level progression of GL-5, GL-7, GL-9, GS-11, and GS-12. You will be eligible for a promotion to the next higher grade level (without reapplying) once you successfully complete 52 weeks in each grade level.

Duties and Responsibilities
As a BPA, you will be part of our 60,000+ workforce that strives to protect the American people by safeguarding our borders, deterring illicit activity, and enhancing the nation’s economic prosperity. Being a BPA makes you a valuable member of the Federal Law Enforcement Officer (LEO) profession.
Typical assignments include:
- Detecting and questioning people suspected of violating immigration and custom laws and inspecting documents and possessions to determine citizenship or violations
- Preventing and apprehending undocumented noncitizens and smugglers of noncitizens at or near the borders by maintaining surveillance from covert positions to include using infrared scopes during night operations
- Interpreting and following tracks, marks, and other physical evidence of illegal entry of persons or contraband
- Performing farm checks, building checks, traffic checks, city patrols, and transportation checks
- Patrolling the international boundary and coastal waterways using a variety of government assets such as vehicles, horses, vessels, watercraft, off-road vehicles, ATVs, snowmobiles, and motorcycles for the accomplishment of the USBP Mission.
Qualifications
You qualify for the GL-5 grade level if you possess one of the following:
Experience: One (1) year of general work experience that demonstrates the ability to take charge, make sound decisions, and maintain composure in stressful situations; to learn regulations, methods, and techniques through classroom training and/or on-the-job instruction; and the ability to gather concise information through questioning, observation, and examination of documents and records; OR
Education Substitution: A bachelor's degree or successful completion of a full four-year course of study in any field leading to a bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university; OR
Combination of Experience and Education: A combination of general work experience AND successfully completed college education. This will be calculated using your resume and official or unofficial transcripts submitted with your application.
You qualify for the GL-7 grade level if you possess one of the following:
Experience: One year of specialized work experience that shows you have the skills necessary to:
- Make sound judgments and decisions in the use of firearms.
- Deal effectively with people in a courteous and tactful manner in connection with law enforcement matters.
- Analyze information rapidly and make prompt decisions where you will be expected to make arrests after the completion of required training and apply these skills in a law enforcement capacity such as criminal code enforcement, determining violations of laws, correctional or rehabilitation work involving criminal offenders, security, military, etc.
The above experience will be applied in connection with the following: Make arrests and exercise sound judgment in the use of firearms; deal effectively with people in a courteous manner in connection with law enforcement matters; analyze information rapidly and make prompt decisions; or develop and maintain contact with a network of informants.
Education Substitution for the GL-7 grade level: A bachelor's degree with superior academic achievement, which is based on (1) class standing, (2) grade-point average (i.e., GPA of 3.0 or higher out of a possible 4.0), or (3) honor society membership. Or will receive a bachelor's degree with Superior Academic Achievement. Or one full year of graduate-level education in a field of study related to law enforcement (e.g., criminal justice, homeland security, justice studies, law enforcement, courts and judicial systems, forensic technology, forensic psychology, or corrections and rehabilitation) from an accredited college or university; OR
A Combination of Experience and Education: This will be calculated using your resume and official or unofficial transcripts submitted with your application.

Other Requirements
Citizenship: You must be a U.S. Citizen to apply for this position.
Residency: You must have had primary U.S. residency (includes protectorates as declared under international law) for at least three of the last five years.
Age Restriction: In accordance with Public Law 100-238, this position is covered under law enforcement retirement provisions. Candidates must be referred for selection to the Border Patrol Agent position before reaching their 40th birthday in accordance with Department of Homeland Security Directive 251-03. The age restriction may not apply if you are currently serving or have previously served in a federal civilian law enforcement (non-military) position covered by Title 5 U.S.C. 8336(c) or Title 5 U.S.C. 8412(d).
Veterans’ Preference: You may also be eligible for an excepted service Veterans Recruitment Appointment (VRA). The age restriction does not apply if you are Veterans' Preference eligible.
Formal Training: After you are hired, you will be detailed to the U.S. Border Patrol Academy in Artesia, New Mexico, for approximately six (6) months of intensive instruction in immigration and nationality laws, law enforcement and USBP-specific operations, driver training, physical techniques, firearms, and other courses. Border Patrol work requires the ability to speak and read Spanish, as well as English. Border Patrol Agents will be provided training to become proficient with the Spanish language at the Academy.

Albany Medical College is seeking a full-time Obstetrician–Gynecologist Hospitalist to join the Department of Obstetrics & Gynecology. This is an excellent opportunity to practice in a high-volume, academic inpatient setting focused on labor and delivery, obstetric triage, and inpatient gynecologic care, with robust support from subspecialty services and a strong educational mission.
About the Department
Our department provides full-scope OB-GYN services and includes:
· 30 part-time and full-time physicians
10 advanced practice providers
2 full-time genetic counselors
24 residents and 6 fellows across subspecialties
18,000+ ambulatory clinic visits per year
Regional perinatal referral center
Over 2,500 deliveries per year
Diverse patient population, including complex maternal and fetal co-morbidities
Comprehensive multidisciplinary support including MFM, OB anesthesia, neonatology, nursing, and ancillary services
Key Responsibilities
· Provide comprehensive inpatient obstetrical care, including labor and delivery coverage
· Manage obstetric emergencies and high-risk pregnancies in collaboration with multidisciplinary teams
· Provide inpatient gynecologic consultation and urgent/emergent gynecologic care, as applicable
· Supervise and teach OB-GYN residents and medical students on Labor & Delivery and inpatient services

Schedule & Call Structure

The Department of Pediatrics at Albany Medical College is seeking an accomplished Pediatric Pulmonologist to serve as Division Chief of Pediatric Pulmonology . This is an opportunity to lead a collaborative and growing division within the region’s premier academic health system. Candidates must be fellowship-trained and board-certified in pediatric pulmonology, with demonstrated leadership experience in clinical care, education and research.
About the Division and facility:
- 2 Pediatric Pulmonologists
- 3 Advanced Practice Nurse Practitioners (NPs)
- Provides inpatient and outpatient consultative care across a 25-county region, including Upstate New York, Western Massachusetts, and Western Vermont
- Multidisciplinary clinics in neuromuscular disease, aerodigestive disorders, and a monthly BPD Clinic for NICU graduates
- Home to the region’s only accredited Cystic Fibrosis (CF) Center , nationally recognized for quality improvement and community engagement
- Full Pulmonary Function Laboratory
- Office-based flexible laryngoscopy
- Flexible bronchoscopy performed with anesthesia
The CF Center offers:
- A full multidisciplinary care team including pharmacists, dietitians, child-life specialists, mental health coordinators, case managers, respiratory therapists, nurse coordinators, NPs, and physicians

About the Role:
The Division Chief will:
- Provide leadership for all clinical, academic, and administrative functions within the division
- Oversee quality, safety, and growth initiatives in pediatric pulmonology and the CF Center
- Mentor faculty, fellows, and learners across Albany Medical College’s training programs
- Foster multidisciplinary collaboration with colleagues in critical care, neonatology, hospital medicine, and other pediatric subspecialties
- Contribute to the department’s educational and research missions
The Bernard and Millie Duker Children’s Hospital is a children’s hospital within a larger academic health system. It is the only Children’s Hospital for 25 counties in upstate NY and serves children’s and families in southwest VT and Western MA. We have a 60 bed NICU, 19 bed PICU, 18 room Pediatric ED, and over 140 physicians and providers sharing the care of our patients. Albany Medical College is seeking a highly accomplished Chief of Acute Care Surgery and Critical Care to lead our trauma program, emergency surgery and surgical critical care division. This is a professor-level faculty position offering the opportunity to shape the future of trauma care across our health system and region.
As Chief and Medical Director, you will oversee a division of acute care surgeons, intensivists, advanced practice providers, trauma quality specialists and direct trauma program operations, and drive growth in clinical, academic, research, and quality initiatives. You will partner closely with hospital and nursing leadership, emergency medicine, critical care, orthopedics, neurosurgery, radiology, and prehospital services to deliver outstanding, verified trauma care for adult and pediatric patients.

Comprehensive trauma services spanning resuscitation, operative and non-operative management, critical care, and rehabilitation coordination for Level 1 adult and pediatric trauma centers .
Future-focused innovation including expansion of damage-control resuscitation, advanced hemorrhage control, REBOA, robotic surgery and trauma-informed multidisciplinary pathways.
Integrated performance improvement (PI) program with robust analytics, trauma registry support, and participation in TQIP/NTDB.
Regional growth – expand access to high-quality trauma and acute care surgical services across northeastern New York through aligned protocols and outreach.
Responsibilities
Strategic & Operational Leadership
Provide strategic and operational leadership for the Division of Acute Care Surgery and Critical Care
Oversee daily operations including faculty and administrative staff, budget management, incentive plans, and division quality programs.
Oversee the surgical intensive care units (Surgical Intensive Care Unit (SICU) and Cardiovascular Intensive Care Unit (CVICU), and Stepdown Unit.
Coordinate clinical coverage (ED, OR, ICU, inpatient floors) and trauma call schedules in accordance with verification standards.
Foster collaboration across surgery, emergency medicine, critical care, orthopedics, neurosurgery, radiology, anesthesiology, rehabilitation, social work, and prehospital partners.
Program Development & Quality
Lead a comprehensive trauma Performance Improvement & Patient Safety (PIPS) program—case reviews, loop closure, trends analysis, and action plans.
Develop and optimize trauma clinical pathways, massive transfusion protocols, sepsis bundles, geriatric trauma, and pediatric trauma care standards.
Drive innovation in trauma surgery (e.g., minimally invasive approaches (laparoscopic and robotic), critical care best practices, prehospital integration).
Develop robust emergency general surgery pathways
Regulatory & Compliance (Medical Director Duties)
Ensure continuous compliance with American College of Surgeons (ACS) Committee on Trauma verification standards, including resource requirements, surgeon availability, credentialing, education, and PI processes.
Oversee trauma registry operations, data quality, and timely submission to NTDB/TQIP ; review benchmark reports and lead performance improvement initiatives based on findings.
Maintain readiness for verification/consultative site visits , including document preparation, policy/procedure alignment, and multidisciplinary staff engagement.
Ensure adherence to New York State Department of Health trauma center regulations, EMTALA , and Joint Commission standards relevant to trauma care, quality, and patient safety.
Chair or co-chair the Trauma Operations Committee and Trauma PIPS Committee ; ensure participation from all key services and documented loop closure.
Oversee trauma education requirements (ATLS, ACLS, PALS), CME, and competency for clinical staff; support OPPE/FPPE processes and credentialing for trauma providers.
Partner with emergency management on disaster preparedness , surge planning, mass casualty incident response, and hospital-wide drills.
Collaborate with nursing and administrative leadership on trauma policies, bylaws, call coverage , and on-call response times ; ensure 24/7 access to essential trauma resources.
Culture & Faculty Development
Build a faculty development program focused on teaching excellence, scholarly productivity, and leadership.
Partner with section chiefs, administrative leadership, and APP supervisors to strengthen team dynamics, engagement, and retention.
Collaborate with the department chair on faculty development, recruitment, and workforce planning.
Qualifications
MD/DO or equivalent with board certification in General Surgery and fellowship training in Surgical Critical Care or Trauma Surgery ; eligibility for New York licensure.
Demonstrated experience as a Trauma Medical Director or Associate Director at a verified trauma center (ACS COT preferred).
Academic credentials suitable for appointment at the professor level at Albany Medical College.
Proven success in program leadership, performance improvement, multidisciplinary collaboration, and faculty management.
Experience with ACS verification standards , TQIP/NTDB , PI methodology, and regulatory compliance.
Master’s in Business Administration, Healthcare Administration, or completion of a formal leadership program is highly desired.
Active engagement in clinical research and quality improvement initiatives.
