The Women's Health Unit consists of a 30 bed Antepartum/Postpartum, 18 bed Normal Newborn Nursery, 6 bed Intermediate/Special Care, 6 bed LDR, 6 bed High Risk, 2 bed L&D Triage area, and 2 OR suites. We care for both low and high risk laboring patients, antepartum, scheduled, and unscheduled and emergent cesarean sections, high risk care of pregnant patients with co-morbidities such as preeclampsia, diabetes, cardiac, neurological, and respiratory conditions. Care of the pregnant patient carrying a child with congenital malformations or life threatening conditions. Care of patients experiencing pre-term labor, multiple gestational pregnancy, and serious complications of pregnancy.

5 Tower (Cardiac Surgery & Step-Down Unit): is a 32-bed inpatient, private room unit specializing in care for post-op cardiovascular surgery, thoracic surgery, lung transplants, heart transplants, and advanced heart failure (LVADs). This unit is unique in that we also have a 6-bed transitional unit with higher acuity patients that require specialized care. The nurses on this unit will learn several skills, including, but not limited to cardiac telemetry, cardiac drips, chest tubes, and external pacers.

Cardiac Telemetry Nurses are trained in performing EKG's, interpreting cardiac rhythms, administration of IV cardiac medications, phlebotomy, and certified in ACLS.

MacNeal nurses participate in shared governance and are active in practice-related decision making that influence their daily work. The Women's Health Unit consists of a 30 bed Antepartum/Postpartum, 18 bed Normal Newborn Nursery, 6 bed Intermediate/Special Care, 6 bed LDR, 6 bed High Risk, 2 bed L&D Triage area, and 2 OR suites. We care for both low and high risk laboring patients, antepartum, scheduled, and unscheduled and emergent cesarean sections, high risk care of pregnant patients with co-morbidities such as preeclampsia, diabetes, cardiac, neurological, and respiratory conditions. Care of the pregnant patient carrying a child with congenital malformations or life threatening conditions. Care of patients experiencing pre-term labor, multiple gestational pregnancy, and serious complications of pregnancy.

What Registered Nurse RN will need:
A Degree from an accredited school/college of nursing is required - BSN or ADN
BLS Provider (accredited by the American Heart Association) required prior to hire
Illinois Board of Nursing license prior to hire
1 Year of L and D experience
BSN Pay Range: $36.05 - $59.92 per hour
ADN Pay Range: $32.90 - $57.06 per hour
Actual compensation will fall within the range but may vary based on factors such as experience, qualifications, education, location, licensure, certification requirements, and comparisons to colleagues in similar roles.
