The Loyola Inpatient Dialysis unit provides adult and pediatric hemodialysis care with five dialysis stations. We provide hemodialysis, peritoneal dialysis, and continuous renal replacement therapy to a diverse group of patients with kidney failure across the hospital. Dialysis care is provided by a team of professionals, including nephrologists, dialysis registered nurses, certified hemodialysis technicians and other members of the interdisciplinary team. Job responsibilities:
Patient Care & Assessment:
Supports the organization’s mission, philosophy, operating principles, model of care, and strategic plans/goals by interpreting and implementing established policies and procedures for the safe delivery of patient care.
Assesses and helps resolve administrative and clinical problems to assure
quality patient care.
Maintains up-to-date knowledge of nursing units and utilizes available resources to provide optimum patient care.
Provides information to media and community agencies as needed to assist in the dissemination of public information and investigations.
Plan of Care:

Performs a variety of direct patient care procedures to assist the unit manager, professional staff and physicians in providing patient care focused on the needs of the patient.
GENERAL PATIENT CARE - Meets the comfort and hygiene needs of the patient.
TECHNICAL CARE - Assists with completion of patient testing and treatment procedures, sets up and primes IV tubing, 12-lead ECG, simple tracheostomy suctioning and care, changes dressings, performs cardiopulmonary resuscitation, obtains wound and throat cultures.
EQUIPMENT - Assists physician and professional staff in equipment supply and set up.
TRANSPORT - Assists with ambulating patients with assistive devices such as crutches and with transfer/transport procedures.

Position Requirements
Minimum Education:
Preferred: High School Diploma plus training acquired through work experience or education

Required: Certified Nurse Assistant, BLS (Basic Life Support) through AHA
Other: Completion of a Nursing Assistant Program with placement on the Illinois Department of Health Nurse Aide Registry or verification of an equal or higher educational level in a clinically focused program. Individuals working as Patient Care Assistants at Loyola University Medical Center prior to 1997 are exempt from the above guidelines and are grandfathered into the Patient Care Tech roles upon successful completion of an in-house orientation and training program for the Patient Care Tech position.

The Loyola Inpatient Dialysis unit provides adult and pediatric hemodialysis care with five dialysis stations. We provide hemodialysis, peritoneal dialysis, and continuous renal replacement therapy to a diverse group of patients with kidney failure across the hospital. Dialysis care is provided by a team of professionals, including nephrologists, dialysis registered nurses, certified hemodialysis technicians and other members of the interdisciplinary team. Our goal is to maintain and improve the health and quality of life for patients with renal disease. On call shifts are required. Come and explore all that Loyola Medicine has to offer.

What Registered Nurse RN will need:
A Degree from an accredited school/college of nursing is required - BSN or ADN
BLS Provider (accredited by the American Heart Association) required prior to hire
Illinois Board of Nursing license prior to hire
Must Have Previous Dialysis experience
Compensation:
BSN Pay Range: $36.05 - $59.92 per hour
ADN Pay Range: $32.90 - $57.06 per hour
Actual compensation will fall within the range but may vary based on factors such as experience, qualifications, education, location, licensure, certification requirements, and comparisons to colleagues in similar roles.
