The OpportunityΒ 

  • Responsible for supporting, organizing, conducting, and directing the Vituity HEART Thoracic Donor Organ Transplant Recovery Program.
  • This role encompasses liaison activities between Administration, the Surgical Staff, the Medical Staff, performance measurement, protocol development, research, and quality improvement activities for the procurement of donor Heart and Lung grafts for thoracic transplantation.
  • Responsible for the recovery of donor Heart and Lung grafts for the Heart and Lung Transplant Program in keeping with the policies, rules, and regulations of Vituity-contracted Hospital Systems, clients, and its medical and surgical staff.
  • Responsible for adhering to all applicable State, Federal, and local laws, policies, and regulations.
  • Aid in compliance with International Society of Heart and Lung Transplantation, (ISHLT), United Network for Organ Sharing (UNOS), and Organ Procurement Organizations (OPOs), surveys, and laboratory data collection.
  • Help in preparation for federal, state, or JCAHO inspections.
  • Collaborate with physicians and Thoracic Transplant Program team members to promote the concepts and practice of Quality Assurance by linking improvement activities, education, and information.
  • Facilitate appropriate financial and operational efficiencies.
  • Coordinate with hospital to ensure adequate training of nursing staff and clinical transplant coordinators in the care of donor thoracic transplant patients.
  • Ensure that tissue typing and organ procurement services are available.
  • Ensure that heart and lung transplant procurement is performed by, or under direct supervision of, a qualified surgeon.
  • Participate in hospital and Medical Staff committees dealing with thoracic transplant donor issues.
  • Follow safety standards in all aspects of performance of the above functions and attend applicable safety education sessions.
  • Review operations, policies and procedures, and staff education and training, including a disaster preparedness plan.

Required Experience and Competencies

  • Board Certified/Eligible Thoracic Surgery physicians required.
  • Valid license to practice medicine in one of the contiguous United States required.
  • Providers who graduated from a Thoracic training program before 1990 and has at least seven (7) years’ experience in Thoracic Transplant Surgery will be considered.
  • Providers who are newly graduated within the time specified by the American Board of Medical Specialists and Medical Staff by-laws will be considered.
  • Maintain appropriate current professional knowledge in the care of Thoracic Transplant patients by obtaining at least 12 CMEs in Thoracic OR Surgery every three years and an additional training of one year formalized training in thoracic transplantation required.
  • A minimum of two years documented experience with a transplant program that meets the qualification for UNOS membership required.
  • Experience in pre-operative and post-operative patient care responsibility for an optimum of 20 and minimum of 10 heart transplants for adults required.
  • Experience in pre-operative and post-operative patient care responsibility for an optimum of 20 and minimum of 10 lung transplants in a UNOS approved transplant program required.
  • Cumulative experience of at least 20 thoracic transplants over more than two years required.
  • Maintain current knowledge in the care of thoracic transplant patients by obtaining a minimum of 12 CME’s in thoracic transplantation AND/OR Thoracic surgery every three years required.
  • Additional training of one year formalized training in thoracic transplantation OR a minimum of two years’ documented experience with a thoracic transplant program that meets the qualification for UNOS membership preferred.
  • Experience in pre-operative and post-operative patient care responsibility for at least 10 thoracic transplant recipients in a UNOS-qualified program OR cumulative experience of at least 20 thoracic transplants over more than two years preferred.

The Opportunity

  • Improve patient census and billing practice statistics to optimize reimbursement for the practice.
  • Maintain awareness and interactions with payers such as significant IPA’s, Medical Groups, Foundations, ACO’s associated with the hospital / health system.
  • Execute efficient recruitment, onboarding, and training processes for new providers, ensuring the practice is staffed with highly qualified professionals.
  • Provide learning and development opportunities and mentoring to providers and staff to enhance their clinical acumen, leadership skills and overall professional growth.
  • Evaluate the performance of physicians and PA / NPs in compliance with Vituity policies and guidelines.
  • Monitor physician competencies with progressive improvement using appropriate metrics. Counsel, suspend, or remove staff from the schedule as necessary in compliance with Vituity polices / guidelines.
  • Actively participate in contract negotiations in conjunction with the Regional Director.
  • Develop, foster, and maintain productive and collaborative working relationships with hospital leadership, nursing staff and other healthcare team members.
  • Ensure practice is appropriately represented and demonstrates their value through leadership roles (as applicable) and/or participation with hospital management, medical staff leadership, Medical Executive, Medical Staff and other hospital committees, and within the local community.

Ambassador Program

As an ambassador you’ll have the opportunity to work in a variety of practice settings while earning premium pay. Vituity has an excellent opportunity for Hospital Medicine Medical Directors to join our ambassador team. Our ambassadors act as support for the emergency staffing needs at our existing sites and new start-ups.

  • Full-time ambassadors are guaranteed a minimum of 125 hours per month.
  • All travel, meals, room and board costs are covered.
  • Hospital credentialing fees, applicable state licensing, secondary DEA cost and required certifications for the site will be covered.

  • As the role of the Vituity Ambassador requires the ability to obtain temporary privileges at our client hospitals, all Ambassador candidates must have a clean professional record regarding standard hospital attestation questions (not including malpractice cases).

The OpportunityΒ 

  • Responsible for supporting, organizing, conducting, and directing the Vituity HEART Thoracic Donor Organ Transplant Recovery Program.
  • This role encompasses liaison activities between Administration, the Surgical Staff, the Medical Staff, performance measurement, protocol development, research, and quality improvement activities for the procurement of donor Heart and Lung grafts for thoracic transplantation.
  • Responsible for the recovery of donor Heart and Lung grafts for the Heart and Lung Transplant Program in keeping with the policies, rules, and regulations of Vituity-contracted Hospital Systems, clients, and its medical and surgical staff.
  • Responsible for adhering to all applicable State, Federal, and local laws, policies, and regulations.
  • Aid in compliance with International Society of Heart and Lung Transplantation, (ISHLT), United Network for Organ Sharing (UNOS), and Organ Procurement Organizations (OPOs), surveys, and laboratory data collection.
  • Help in preparation for federal, state, or JCAHO inspections.
  • Collaborate with physicians and Thoracic Transplant Program team members to promote the concepts and practice of Quality Assurance by linking improvement activities, education, and information.
  • Facilitate appropriate financial and operational efficiencies.
  • Coordinate with hospital to ensure adequate training of nursing staff and clinical transplant coordinators in the care of donor thoracic transplant patients.
  • Ensure that tissue typing and organ procurement services are available.
  • Ensure that heart and lung transplant procurement is performed by, or under direct supervision of, a qualified surgeon.
  • Participate in hospital and Medical Staff committees dealing with thoracic transplant donor issues.
  • Follow safety standards in all aspects of performance of the above functions and attend applicable safety education sessions.
  • Review operations, policies and procedures, and staff education and training, including a disaster preparedness plan.

Rquired Experience and Competenciese

  • Board Certified/Eligible Thoracic Surgery physicians required.
  • Valid license to practice medicine in one of the contiguous United States required.
  • Providers who graduated from a Thoracic training program before 1990 and has at least seven (7) years’ experience in Thoracic Transplant Surgery will be considered.
  • Providers who are newly graduated within the time specified by the American Board of Medical Specialists and Medical Staff by-laws will be considered.
  • Maintain appropriate current professional knowledge in the care of Thoracic Transplant patients by obtaining at least 12 CMEs in Thoracic OR Surgery every three years and an additional training of one year formalized training in thoracic transplantation required.
  • A minimum of two years documented experience with a transplant program that meets the qualification for UNOS membership required.
  • Experience in pre-operative and post-operative patient care responsibility for an optimum of 20 and minimum of 10 heart transplants for adults required.
  • Experience in pre-operative and post-operative patient care responsibility for an optimum of 20 and minimum of 10 lung transplants in a UNOS approved transplant program required.
  • Cumulative experience of at least 20 thoracic transplants over more than two years required.
  • Maintain current knowledge in the care of thoracic transplant patients by obtaining a minimum of 12 CME’s in thoracic transplantation AND/OR Thoracic surgery every three years required.
  • Additional training of one year formalized training in thoracic transplantation OR a minimum of two years’ documented experience with a thoracic transplant program that meets the qualification for UNOS membership preferred.
  • Experience in pre-operative and post-operative patient care responsibility for at least 10 thoracic transplant recipients in a UNOS-qualified program OR cumulative experience of at least 20 thoracic transplants over more than two years preferred.
  • Maintain current knowledge in the care of thoracic transplant patients by obtaining a minimum of 12 CME’s in thoracic transplantation AND/OR thoracic surgery every three years preferred.

  • Develop, foster, and maintain productive and collaborative working relationships with hospital leadership, nursing staff, and other healthcare team members, assuring a strong and positive relationship with partners and medical staff. Β 
  • Ensure practice is appropriately represented and demonstrates their value through leadership roles (as applicable), representing Vituity and developing relationships in their region.
  • Monitor site financial performance and develop and understanding of the yearly budget, financial performance measures and monitoring systems, billing and reimbursement issues / systems.
  • Improve billing practice statistics to optimize reimbursement for the practice.
  • Maintain awareness and interactions with payers such as significant IPA’s, Medical Groups, Foundations, ACO’s associated with the hospital / health system.
  • Execute efficient recruitment, onboarding, and training processes for new providers, ensuring the practice is staffed with highly qualified professionals.
  • Provide learning and development opportunities and mentoring to providers and staff to enhance their clinical acumen, leadership skills, and overall professional growth.
  • Evaluate the performance of physicians and Advanced Providers in compliance with Vituity policies and guidelines.
  • Monitor physician competencies with progressive improvement using appropriate metrics. Counsel, suspend, or remove staff from the schedule as necessary in compliance with Vituity polices / guidelines.
  • Help identify and mentor the permanent Medical Director for the site.
  • Utilize schedule templates to create start-up schedules. Assist future MD in liaising with Shift Admin team.
  • Ensure initial pay rates are entered in Shift Admin prior to the first payroll run.
  • Collaborate with Vituity and Site support teams to ensure timely email access, password issues, and EMR education setup.
  • Be available to be on site as needed and as requested.
  • Support co-designing, building, and executing strategies, policies, and practices that cultivate equity, inclusion, and fair opportunity for all as directed.
  • Facilitate integration of practice lines in startups and existing contract sites, as directed.
  • Model Vituity’s Partnership Principles through fostering open communication and transparency of decisions (ex. Annual review of administrative stipends and scheduling preferences).

Required Experience and Competencies

  • Licensed physician as a Medical Doctor (M.D.) or Doctor of Osteopathic Medicine (D.O.) degree from an accredited medical school and completion of residency through an accredited residency program with specialty appropriate to PL serving required.
  • Maintain membership and privileges on Hospital’s medical staff and comply with and abide by the bylaws, rules and regulations, and the policies and procedures of Hospital’s medical staff where services are being provided required.
  • Superior clinical skills to serve as a role model by setting high standards required.
  • Operations administrative experience and aptitude is helpful to create a bridge between hospital administration and physicians, with strong interpersonal and leadership skills required.

The Opportunity


As an ambassador you’ll have the opportunity to work in a variety of practice settings while earning premium pay. Vituity has an excellent opportunity for Emergency Medicine physicians to join our ambassador team. Our ambassadors act as support for the emergency staffing needs at our existing sites and new start-ups.



  • Up to $50k sign on bonus for qualified candidates.
  • Full-time ambassadors are guaranteed a minimum of 125 hours per month.
  • Part-time ambassadors are guaranteed a minimum of 60 hours per month.
  • All travel, meals, room and board costs are covered.
