Step into the heart of critical care at our 21-bed Medical/Cardiac Intensive Care Unit, where every shift is a chance to make a profound impact. As a MICU RN, you’ll be part of a high-performing, interdisciplinary team committed to delivering exceptional care rooted in the latest evidence-based practices.
Complex Care, Advanced Skills
In the MICU, you’ll care for some of the most critically ill patients in the region. Our diverse and high-acuity population includes individuals experiencing:
- Neurological emergencies: Stroke, Seizures, Guillain-Barré (GB), TNK, Thrombectomies
- Cardiac crises: Myocardial Infarction (MI), CHF, IABP, Impella, Cardiac Arrest, ECMO
- Pulmonary challenges: COPD, ILD, PNA, COVID ICU
- Severe infections: Sepsis, Septic Emboli
- Metabolic and toxicologic emergencies: DKA, Overdose (OD), Liver Failure, Renal Failure
- Gastrointestinal bleeding: GIB
- Advanced therapies: CRRT, CDT
- End-of-life (EOL) care: Compassionate, patient-centered support for patients and families

Unit Description: UVMMC has the only interventional Cath Lab in the state, and we manage patients throughout northern and central VT and upper NY State. We offer state of the art diagnostic, interventional, peripheral, and structural heart procedures. We are an RN only lab with monitor, circulator and scrub roles for all staff. We use multiple modalities including IVUS, OCT, FFR, Impella, IABP in the treatment of our patients with cardiovascular and peripheral disease. Our structural heart program includes PFO/ASD closure, TAVR, and Mitral Clip. Experience in Cardiology or critical care is preferred.
On-call: RN’s work 8- or 10-hour shifts Mon -Fri from 7-1730 with approximately 5 shifts of call a month which includes a weekend every 5 weeks.

Unit Description: As a Pre-Op nurse in our 22-bay prep unit supporting the patients coming through for the operating room. You will be responsible for treating a diverse patient population with a variety of conditions who are both inpatient and outpatient. As we are a level 1 trauma center, we see patients for surgeries within all service lines.

Our team is comprised of RNs and LNAs who float between different units to help cover inpatient staffing needs. As a department, we support up to 20 different units ranging from Medical-Surgical, Cardiology/Telemetry, Critical Care, to Maternal Child. You’ll find yourself using your broad range of skills and depth of experience on a variety of inpatient units.
You’ll work in collaboration with a multidisciplinary team to provide patients with the highest quality care. Our leadership team provides training and support to ensure that you have the tools and knowledge that you need to thrive in this one-of-a-kind unit. A can-do attitude, flexibility, a love of change, independence, and excellent communication skills are needed to be successful in our department.
A minimum of 2 years of direct critical care experience is required.
On-call: Not required.
Incentives: Resource Department differential of $7.00/hour. External candidates are eligible for a one-time signing bonus of $20,000 (prorated for part time roles). Unit Description: Inpatient Pediatrics at UVMMC is a 17-bed unit serving patients aged day 1 to 18 years and covers 24 specialties. It is the only inpatient pediatric unit in the state of Vermont and upstate New York, is part of the Golisano Children's Hospital at the University of Vermont Medical Center, and partners with the Children's Miracle Network.

Unit Description: As a Neurology Nurse in this progressive care unit, you’ll care for a diverse patient population with a range of needs to build or enhance your nursing practice. Our patient population consists of neurology, neurosurgery, gynecologic surgery, ENT, and other medical patients. Department Description: Are you interested in developing deep relationships with families and supporting their long-term strengths and health? We’re looking to expand our team with a detail-oriented creative thinker who enjoys problem solving and creative community collaborations.
We support families through pregnancy, postpartum and the early childhood years until age 6 in families without medical concerns and up to age 18 in families with children who have medical conditions requiring skilled nursing care. Our nurses and family support workers focus on prevention and early intervention, collaborating with numerous community service providers, identifying and addressing developmental challenges and/or psycho-social concerns.
We offer individualized self-care and parenting assessment, education and support; childbirth preparation and lactation support; developmental and play support to maximize each family’s physical, social and emotional strengths. We provide skilled nursing services for pregnant/postpartum people with higher risk pregnancies due to medical, psychiatric and/or substance use disorder diagnoses; children up to 18 years of age with a medical diagnosis, including emotional adjustment support to children, their families and their care providers.
Our full-time positions are Monday - Friday, 8 am - 4:30 pm, which is amazing schedule for parents or those who want work/life balance. There is one rotating on-call weekend day every 4-5 weeks.
Minimum Requirements:
• One to two years of obstetrical nursing experience, experience with assessing patients throughout pregnancy and postpartum.
• Child health nursing experience preferred.
• Human services experience such as collaboration with community providers, service and care coordination.
• Central line experience preferred, will support and train incumbent who expresses willingness to learn.
On-call: Rotating weekends (approximately every 4 weeks) and holidays.

Unit Description: Emergency Department RNs provide professional nursing care to patients in varying state of health and illness by assessment, planning, implementation, and evaluation of the nursing plan of care. We are a 45 bed, Level I Trauma Center that offers the highest quality of care to our patients across all of Vermont and Northern New York. This position is part of a multidisciplinary team comprised of Physicians, Fellows/Residents, RNs, MHTs and ED Techs. RNs are trained to cover the Charge RN role and to precept.

Unit Description: Shep 3 North currently has around 10 long-term care patients that are awaiting placement. Patients on this unit will have a variety of different diagnoses. The environment of the unit is consistent with that of a long-term care facility. Candidates must have strong communication and leadership skills. Charge nurse experience preferred. Unit Description: As a Pre-Op nurse in our 22-bay prep unit supporting the patients coming through for the operating room. You will be responsible for treating a diverse patient population with a variety of conditions who are both inpatient and outpatient.
