- Maintains the trauma registry.
- Coordinates and acts as a resource in injury prevention activities.
- Teaches TNCC and acts as course director of the TNCC program.
- Organizes and coordinates Trauma Committee meetings with the Trauma Program Medical Director.
- Assists in the ED when needed to help with patient flow.
- Shares trauma, EMS and PEDS data with ED staff and physicians at department meetings to include thoughtful analysis of the data.
- Liaises between Mercy One and EMS to create a strong working relationship.
- Audits EMS charts to find trends that may need to be addressed in the performance improvement process.
- Provides EMS data to other departments as needed (e.g., Shared Services for contract review).
- Works with Stroke Coordinator to improve pre-hospital care for patients.
- Assists EMS Medical Directors with the review of quality data and the provision of education to EMS. Where appropriate, obtains CEHs for EMS.
- Attends EMS meetings as a representative of Mercy One Dubuque Medical Center and Mercy One Dyersville Medical Center.
- Liaises with NICC and promotes a positive clinical experience for EMT students at Mercy One.
- Manages EMS supplies, linens, and food by investigating ways to better distribute those resources while reducing waste.
- Coordinates the Dubuque County Drug Box Exchange Program on behalf of Mercy One in collaboration with the Director of Pharmacy.
- Provides education to ED staff on new or changing EMS practices, equipment, or legislative issues.
- Acts as a resource to ED staff and to other hospital staff with regard to HazMat and decontamination (decon) practices. Assists with fit testing as able.
- Participates in pediatric performance improvement activities.
- Coordinates the Pediatric Emergency Medicine meetings to include taking minutes and providing feedback on performance improvement activities.
- Creates and revises emergency pediatric policies with input from the interdisciplinary committees.
- Participates in pediatric injury prevention programs.
- Assists the Emergency Department director with scheduling and payroll.

As a Registered Nurse at MercyOne, you will provide and direct safe, effective, and culturally competent care for patients with acute medical and surgical conditions. Through evidence-based practice, utilizes critical thinking to assess, plan, implement, and evaluate outcome-based care. The Acute Care RN manages a diverse patient population with varying levels of acuity, including post-operative, medical, telemetry, and neurologic patients. Supervises and coordinates care provided by LPNs, Patient Care Assistants, and other nursing team members. Facilitates communication with physicians, patients and families, and interdisciplinary team members. - Shares trauma, EMS and PEDS data with ED staff and physicians at department meetings to include thoughtful analysis of the data.
- Liaises between Mercy One and EMS to create a strong working relationship.
- Audits EMS charts to find trends that may need to be addressed in the performance improvement process.
- Provides EMS data to other departments as needed (e.g., Shared Services for contract review).
- Works with Stroke Coordinator to improve pre-hospital care for patients.
- Assists EMS Medical Directors with the review of quality data and the provision of education to EMS. Where appropriate, obtains CEHs for EMS.
- Attends EMS meetings as a representative of Mercy One Dubuque Medical Center and Mercy One Dyersville Medical Center.
- Liaises with NICC and promotes a positive clinical experience for EMT students at Mercy One.
- Manages EMS supplies, linens, and food by investigating ways to better distribute those resources while reducing waste.
- Coordinates the Dubuque County Drug Box Exchange Program on behalf of Mercy One in collaboration with the Director of Pharmacy.
- Provides education to ED staff on new or changing EMS practices, equipment, or legislative issues.
- Acts as a resource to ED staff and to other hospital staff with regard to HazMat and decontamination (decon) practices. Assists with fit testing as able.
- Participates in pediatric performance improvement activities.
- Coordinates the Pediatric Emergency Medicine meetings to include taking minutes and providing feedback on performance improvement activities.
- Creates and revises emergency pediatric policies with input from the interdisciplinary committees.
- Participates in pediatric injury prevention programs.
- Assists the Emergency Department director with scheduling and payroll.
