GENERAL DESCRIPTION:

Provides direct health care services in a clinical setting under direct supervision of a physician.

SPECIFIC DUTIES AND JOB FUCTIONS:

  • Perform routine physical examinations and preventive health measures including, but not limited to immunizations, developmental screening, routine laboratory screening/procedures appropriate to each gender and age group.
  • Diagnoses and treats health conditions. Collaborate, consult, and refer, as needed, any patient who has complicated or uncommon health problems to Collaborative Physician, other MyCare physicians or specialists within the community.
  • Provides education about diagnosis to the patient and provides written follow-up guidelines. Include family members according to patient wishes.
  • Charts in the medical record utilizing age-appropriate wellness assessment tools, assuring accurate and timely completion of data entry into the patient medical record.
  • Provides support and counseling for patients with chronic disease regarding physical, psychosocial, and environmental well-being.
  • Prescribes drugs and devices incidental to the provision of health care (within the guidelines of the collaborative agreement) and family planning in accordance with State of Michigan law.
  • Institutes emergency medical measures in life-threatening situations. Provides first aid as needed.
  • Follows universal precautions.
  • Utilizes supplies in a cost-effective manner.
  • Performs clinic and outreach related tasks.
  • Utilizes on-going assessment skills.

MHS is hiring married couples to serve as Full-time Flex Houseparents. In this unique and life-changing career, couples reside in on-campus student homes and provide care, guidance, supervision, and support for a group of approximately 8–13 students living in the home.
