The Department of Surgery at the University of Florida College of Medicine – Jacksonville, is seeking an up to full-time Otorhinolaryngologist at the non-tenure accruing level of Clinical Assistant/Associate/Professor in the Division of Otorhinolaryngology and Head and Neck Surgery. The Department of Surgery at the University of Florida College of Medicine – Jacksonville is a tertiary referral center that serves the population of Northeast Florida and Southeast Georgia. It is home to the divisions of General Surgery/Surgical Oncology, Otorhinolaryngology, Plastic Surgery, Trauma/Acute Care/Critical Care, and Vascular Surgery.

We are transforming the Division of Otorhinolaryngology and Head and Neck Surgery to serve our growing community through multidisciplinary care and collaboration Subspecialty centers of clinical excellence in hearing, voice, olfaction, as well as head and neck surgery, facial plastic/reconstruction are focus areas and will be further developed to meet our vision of being the region’s most valued surgical health care asset. We are seeking a candidate with training and clinical experience in otorhinolaryngology. We are open to candidates with subspecialty expertise in Pediatric Otorhinolaryngology, Rhinology/skull base surgery, Laryngology or general otorhinolaryngology. Post graduate education or an interest in ENT allergy or sleep apnea surgery/sleep medicine is a plus. This position will report to the Division Chief of Otorhinolaryngology Head and Neck Surgery and the Chair of the Department of Surgery at the University of Florida College of Medicine – Jacksonville. Every faculty member in the department will have a mentoring team assigned to them and participate in the department wide faculty development program.

The duties and responsibilities of the position include, but are not limited to:

Provide and maintain a high level of quality in-patient specialty and/or sub-specialty care services in Otorhinolaryngology.

Provide clinical teaching of trainees if applicable and participate in the educational program.

Be responsible for excellent communication with primary care physicians.

Assist in marketing the Otorhinolaryngology programs to community physicians and managed care organizations.

Participate in division and department meetings, administrative functions and institutional committees as requested.

Mayo Clinic’s Department of Neurosurgery in Jacksonville, Florida, led by Richard W. Byrne, M.D., is seeking a board-certified or board-eligible neurosurgeon with fellowship training in surgical epilepsy and stereotactic & functional neurosurgery.

The successful candidate will join the Department of Neurosurgery within the Mayo Clinic College of Medicine and Science, an academic tertiary-care program committed to excellence in patient care, research, and education.

Clinical Focus & Expertise

The ideal candidate will have demonstrated expertise in advanced functional neurosurgical procedures, including:

• Epilepsy surgery

• Deep brain stimulation (DBS) for movement disorders

• Stereotactic radiosurgery

• Surgical treatment of pain syndromes

Strong clinical skills and a patient-centered approach are essential.

Academic & Research Expectations

Department & Practice Environment

The Department of Neurosurgery includes 12 faculty neurosurgeons

and hosts a neurosurgery residency program with two residents per year. The Florida campus completes over 2500 neurosurgical cases each year.

Collaborative clinical and research opportunities are encouraged across all Mayo Clinic locations and offer exposure to one of the nation’s largest neurosurgical clinical volumes between the Arizona, Minnesota, Florida, and Mayo Health System campuses.

REQUIRED SKILLS:

• Board Eligible or Board Certified in Neurosurgery (ABNS)
