About the Clinician's Workday
Day shift coverage is required, with 8- and 10-hour shifts preferred. Pager call coverage is preferred for weeknights and weekends, with overtime not expected but potentially offered based on volume, and holiday shift and call participation preferred. Typical hours are 7:00 AM to 5:30 PM. Physicians work primarily in a supervisory care team model, medically directing CRNAs at a 1:4 MD-to-CRNA ratio, and may personally perform cases as needed. The case mix includes general anesthesia for orthopedic, OB, neuro, urology, GYN, endoscopy, and ophthalmology cases, with board certification in general anesthesia required. Core responsibilities include department coordination support, pre-anesthesia assessments, consent verification, anesthetic planning and delivery, induction, maintenance and emergence, physiologic monitoring, and clinical interventions.

The clinician must be board certified or board eligible, hold an active Virginia license, and maintain BLS, ACLS, and DEA certifications while being open to working at both an 80-bed and 95-bed facility. Responsibilities include conducting physical examinations, ordering laboratory and diagnostic tests, writing orders, managing admissions and discharges, diagnosing injuries and illnesses, prescribing medications, providing patient education and counseling, and managing common conditions such as infectious illnesses, respiratory issues, flu, and dehydration using Epic EMR documentation.
