POSITION SUMMARY:

A Legal Administrative Assistant assists attorneys and paralegals through the performance of complex and substantive legal tasks requiring knowledge of legal terminology and the legal process. The Legal Administrative Assistant is required to handle strict confidential client and firm data in a professional and ethical manner on a daily basis and provide attorneys with assistance as defined below.


WORKING RELATIONSHIPS:

REPORTS TO: Assigned Attorney(s) and Office Manager for administrative matters.

SUPERVISES: No supervisory responsibilities.


PRIMARY DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

*1. Provide support to assigned attorney(s) and paralegal(s)

*2. Format documents into final form, proofread, copy, scan, mail, etc.

*3. Process incoming and outgoing mail

*4. File/e-file documents with courts and/or agencies

*5. Opening/closing files, consistent with department and firm practice

6. Scheduling conference calls, meetings and travel

*7. Manage data and prepare presentations as needed

8. Office duties including copying, scanning, faxing, time entry, call edit, filing, etc.

9. Manage and calendar time

10. Other duties as assigned

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES REQUIRED:

EDUCATION:

1. High School Diploma or Equivalent required. Bachelor’s degree preferred.

2. WORK EXPERIENCE:

One year administrative office experience is required. Bachelor’s degree may substitute for experience.

Ability to multitask, paying close attention to detail and coordinating various activities simultaneously under tight schedule; ability to proofread typed material for grammatical, typographical or spelling errors; strong communication skills, both verbal and written; ability to manage others as needed; proficient computer skills (strong working knowledge of Word, Excel, Outlook, PowerPoint) and internet applications; ability to work overtime, as needed, to meet deadlines; ability to work independently and cooperatively in a team environment; ability to maintain confidentiality and act with discretion.

PREFERRED:

One year of experience working in a law firm with heavy volume is preferred.


WORKING CONDITIONS:

PHYSICAL EFFORT: Lifting up to 20 pounds; prolonged sitting, some stretching and reaching.

WORK ENVIRONMENT: Indoor office environment with extended periods of time working on a PC. On occasion must be able to work more than 40 hours per week. Required travel would be rare, infrequent.

Job Description

  • Draft substantive pleadings, motions, briefs, and other persuasive written advocacy

This position will primarily support project delivery for WWE’s stormwater management services, with opportunities to expand into wetland delineation and regulatory compliance services, if desired. Representative Responsibilities

  • Prepare, review, and manage construction stormwater permitting under the Colorado Discharge Permit System (CDPS).
  • Assess proposed projects for potential impacts and determine whether floodplain, wetland, construction stormwater, and/or groundwater dewatering discharge permits may apply.
  • Collaborate with WWE subject-area experts on permitting requirements, and coordinate and assist with preparation of permit applications and supporting documentation.
  • Develop Stormwater Management Plans (SWMPs) to effectively address pollution in stormwater runoff and manage the municipal review and resubmittal process for these SWMPs.
  • Oversee inspections of construction sites and post-construction stormwater control measures to ensure compliance with environmental regulations and project requirements. Provide guidance to WWE’s stormwater inspectors and conduct inspections when conditions warrant.
  • Support or lead MS4-related permitting and compliance tasks.
  • Coordinate with clients, contractors, and regulatory agencies regarding stormwater requirements and compliance strategies.
  • Serve as staff expert on stormwater regulations and permitting in Colorado and other states where WWE conducts work.
  • Provide technical oversight, direction, and quality control for junior engineers and scientists supporting permitting and compliance tasks.
  • Review inspection reports, corrective actions, and compliance documentation.
  • Assist with permit modifications, enforcement response support, and compliance audits.
  • Contribute to proposals, scopes of work, and client communication related to stormwater compliance services.


Required Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in engineering or environmental science.
  • 5 or more years of experience developing, implementing, and/or inspecting SWMPs.
  • A high degree of professionalism, time management, analytical thinking, accountability, and decision quality.


Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience with MS4 permits and post-construction stormwater requirements.
