The Adult Psychiatric Unit is a 29-bed locked unit. The unit provides comprehensive mental health care to individuals between the ages of 18-59. Individuals over the age of 59 are evaluated for admission on an individual basis. Patients admitted to the unit have a primary DSM 5 diagnosis/es. However, patients may also have additional diagnoses, including, but not limited to Intellectual Disabilities, Autism, medical comorbidities, etc. Patients must be medically stable as a criteria for admission. Safety practices include 15-minute safety checks, staff monitoring of all community areas and staff presence during meals and visiting hours. Nursing care, daily psychiatric assessments, therapy and medication management are provided to meet the emotional, behavioral, physical, cultural, educational and spiritual needs of the adult patient population. The nurses work 12-hour shifts (7A & 7P). There is great teamwork among the staff.
How you'll contribute
A Registered Nurse (RN) who excels in this role:
- Coordinates the Patient Care Team's delivery of personalized, efficient care with respect for patient's spiritual and cultural differences in accordance with the PA State Board of Nursing Licensure requirement and ANA Scope and Standards of Practice.
- Provides patient assessment throughout patient stay and participates in discharge planning while maintaining a therapeutic partnership with patient, family and caregivers.
- Initiates and updates individualized patient treatment plan.
- Adheres to the 10 Rights of medication administration.
- Collaborates with physician as part of Interdisciplinary Team.
- Is knowledgeable regarding patient condition, completes patient assessment and reassessment, reports changes to the Physician.
- Reports patient's status and anticipates situations that prevent/minimize adverse outcomes, promoting patient safety.
- Implements the interventions identified in the established plan of care and collaborate with members of the Patient Care Team.
- Demonstrates and completes competencies.
- Maintains confidentiality of all patients, hospital, and employee-related information.
- Maintains accountability and productivity for appropriate staffing following the flexible-staffing plan.
- Attends and participates as a minimum requirement 6 staff meetings annually. Reads all staff meeting minutes.
- Maintains proficiency in Conemaugh Connect as applicable.
- Participates in Process Improvement unit based activities and hospital based activities as directed.
- Commits to Service Excellence and continually strives toward achievement of the Standards of Care.

- Timely renewal of PA State RN licensure.
- Read and complete a minimum of 4 age specific competencies annually.

- Assure the completion of the transition of care documentation as related to discharge to home, PCH, SNF, etc.

Palliative Care is a combined 41 bed unit consisting of palliative and medical-surgical patients. We offer flexible scheduling which allows our nurses to have input in what they work. Full Time nurses work 3 12-hr shifts; daylight varies with mostly 7a shifts and nightshift works straight 7p's. Teamwork is where we take the most pride. Cardiac catheterization /EP lab is a very busy place. We provide cardiac catheterization with stents and shockwave, CSI, Rota bladder, Laser, Impalla and balloon pump procedures, TEE, ablations and Cardioversions. We have same day discharge procedures that the patients will recover for 4 hours and if they meet discharge criteria, may go home. Our schedule is published one month at a time. Staff for the cardiac catheterization lab work 4 - (10-hour) shifts, on call time daily, for weekends or holidays also. On call is 2-3 days per week and every 3rd weekend, this may vary depending on vacations, etc. Conemaugh Hospital has chest pain accreditation status; therefore, we have STEMI call 24/7, 7 days per week. Staff for EP work 5 -(8-hour) shifts, no on call time, no weekends, or holidays. We prefer 2 + years' experience with ER, ICU, PCU/telemetry

TCU is a 30-bed short-term skilled hospital-based rehab unit at MMC. Patients receive daily nursing care and a minimum of two hours/day of PT, OT, & SLP. TCU has 24 patient rooms, 18 private and 6 semi-private. Patients come for 10-12 days to recover, get stronger, and go home. Patients come to rehab at TCU for post-op care, wound care, teaching/training for new diagnoses, IV therapy, pain & chronic illness management.
Census up to 24:
7A = 3-4 licensed nurses - generally 2-3 RNs and 1-2 LPNs depending on census; 2-3 CNAs.
7P = 2-3 licensed nurses - RN/LPN combination; 2 CNAs
How you'll contribute
A Registered Nurse (RN) who excels in this role:
- Assesses needs of residents and establishes priorities for resident care based on medical and nursing diagnoses.
- Reassess and evaluate changes in resident's condition as well as reports and documents these changes.
- Assists with the completion of the Minimum Data Set (MDS).

Flexible schedule that is different every week. You can request up to 3 shifts that work for you in a 4-week schedule that can help with appointments, days off, etc. Operating room is collaborative team of surgeons, anesthesia, technologists, and registered nurses. One to one patient ratio. Numerous specialties including robotics, cardiovascular, orthopedics, plastics, OB-GYNE, neuro, urology, and trauma. All employees are expected to be proficient in each specialty; however, you will be in the specialty you prefer most of the time after orientation. Huge perk is getting to know the surgeons here and being able to request them to care for family members etc.

- Assesses the needs of the patients and develops plan of care for the patient during their surgical intervention in order to achieve optimal patient outcomes.

Our ICU is a dynamic and diverse unit, specializing in trauma, surgical, medical, and cardiac care. We have 25 beds and offer flexible scheduling with 12-hour shifts available rotating both days and nights. Our team includes a dedicated unit educator and a group of experienced charge nurses. How you'll contribute
A Registered Nurse (RN) who excels in this role:
Performs plan of care intervention, including medication administration, specimen collection, clinical treatments, as well as other medical care treatment.
Documents patient care given.
Monitors, records, and communicates patient condition as appropriate to care team, physician, patient, and family.
Assists patients with performing activities of daily living, including personal hygiene, elimination, nutrition, and ambulation.
Collaborates as needed across disciplines to coordinate patient care, including patient transfer, discharge, referral and spiritual/psychosocial support needs

IMC is a 42-bed unit. Registered Nurses provide direct day-to-day care of patients and families. Practices to the fullest extent of their license in accordance with organizational policies. Under the direction of the Nurse Manager, functions as a member of the Patient Focused Care Team in collaboration and implementation of the established patients plan of care. Participates with the Nurse Manager in continuous performance improvement. Provides care specific to ages and developmental needs of adult and geriatric patients. Management of acute cardiac care patients and invasive lines including carotid & femoral surgeries appropriate interventions, therapies and expected outcomes. Registered Nurses work 12-hour shifts (7A and 7P).

Conemaugh MedSTAR provides advanced life support and critical care transport for patients of all ages during interfacility and scene responses via air and critical care ground transport. The flight nurse directs patient care from initial contact through transfer to the receiving facility, maintains clinical excellence in accordance with Pennsylvania Department of Health standards and Air Methods patient care guidelines. The flight nurse also serves as a clinical leader, educator, and liaison to EMS agencies, hospitals, and the community.
