Job Description

The City of Renton is recruiting for part-time Outside Services positions at the City's Maplewood Golf Course. Duties will include providing cart attendance, monitoring the driving range facility, and providing marshal services. The applicant will have the ability to assist customers to maintain steady and safe play throughout the golf course while projecting a friendly and helpful attitude as a course representative. The intent is to ensure that the golfer leaves Maplewood with a feeling of course organization, safety, and above all, the desire to return to play golf at our facility.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

  • Monitor driving range hitting bays and collect/restock empty baskets.
  • Operate driving range picker.
  • Perform golf ball recovery from driving range and surrounding area; final "pick" prior to closing.
  • Clean range balls and fill dispenser hopper.
  • Cleaning and organizing of driving range picking room and equipment.
  • Reporting any damage to equipment and any safety issues to supervisor.
  • Operate equipment in a safe and productive manner.
  • Clean power cart windshields and seats, taking care to avoid scratching carts.
  • Sweep out the power carts and remove all garbage; wipe down the body and check for possible damage.
  • Sweep out the power cart barn monthly.
  • Record any damages to carts, and repairs that are needed in the cart journal.
  • Perform related duties as assigned
  • Marshal the golf course when instructed

About the Role

Supervises and coordinates activities of workers engaged in operating variety of machines to manufacture parts or products by performing the following duties.


Responsibilities

  • Supervise employees in production departments, including training, motivation and discipline.
  • Maintain a professional and respectful work environment, including maintaining confidentiality regarding supervisory and management matters.
  • Mentor, lead and provide direction for employees.
  • Recommends to plant management procedures, systems, equipment and machinery alterations to reduce costs, resolve problems, ensure product quality, reduce scrap and improve production efficiency.

  • Audits hourly employee’s timecards for accuracy to ensure correct charges against production assignments, and updates payroll electronic timecards.

  • Serves as Company representative in first step grievance proceedings as required by the Plant Manager and/or Human Resources Manager.

  • Ensures that all reasonable measures are taken to control the handling and use of materials used in the production process, known to be toxic and/or hazardous.

Qualifications

  • High School or Equivalent, Bachelor’s Degree preferred or equivalent experience.
  • 2 or more years of Supervisory experience in manufacturing preferred.

Position Responsibilities:

  • Work from blueprints, templates, detail drawings, and verbal instructions to perform surface finish/conditioning on coordination holes in milled skins and spars.

  • Use templates and jigs to properly position parts for subsequent finishing operations, including reaming, countersinking, and cold work.

  • Scribe tooling locations and reference lines as specified in engineering drawings and specifications.

  • Diagnose and correct any detected discrepancies in parts and processes.

  • Check finished parts to ensure they meet quality requirements and specifications using precision measuring instruments (e.g., micrometers, trammels, probes).

  • Use hand and power tools, including air motors, reamers, and cold-work guns, to perform finishing duties on machined parts.

  • Operate ground-controlled handling equipment to load, unload, and move parts within the shop.

  • Perform rework as required, including filing, scraping, sanding, grinding, and hand finishing to meet gauge tolerances.

  • Locate points and holes from established reference lines or index points using prints, templates, and work orders.

  • Perform visual and functional checks on tools and accessories, making necessary adjustments and ensuring they are in good condition.

  • Access workload using online computer systems and assign work based on priority or Team Leader direction.

  • Review Work Order (W/O) to determine work requirements and ensure prior operations are complete.

  • Consult with supervisor/team lead and other sources (e.g., engineering, planning, inspection) to resolve problems.

  • Call for inspection or use SI&A as required throughout the process, including checking hole sizes and inspecting countersinks.

  • Handle and dispose of hazardous materials in an approved manner while maintaining personal and tool certifications, ensuring compliance with safety standards.

Physical Demands and Potential Hazards:

  • Perform physical tasks that include lifting weights ranging from 10-15 lbs to 15-35 lbs.

  • Engage in various movements such as reaching, handling, turning, twisting, lifting, lowering, climbing, balancing, bending, kneeling, crouching, and squatting.
