Position Overview

Serve as a technical advisor to sales teams and clients by translating requirements into complete, accurate, and executable structured cabling solutions. This role bridges pre‑sales, estimating, and operations by delivering compliant designs, pricing, documentation, and effective project handoff for SCS RFPs.


Key Responsibilities

• Act as a technical advisor to account executives and clients throughout the pre‑sales and proposal lifecycle

• Conduct on‑site surveys to assess infrastructure, pathways, and constructability

• Perform detailed client needs analyses to define scope, assumptions, and solution requirements

• Generate accurate Bills of Materials (BOMs) and labor estimates within P&L constraints

• Develop comprehensive Statements of Work (SOWs) for Structured Cabling Systems (SCS) RFPs

• Define and document project assumptions, terms & conditions, and exclusions for proposals

• Review RFP documentation and prepare RFIs as required

• Design functional, code‑compliant solutions aligned with core product offerings and technical capabilities

• Provide technical support during scope reviews, pre‑bid meetings, and client presentations

• Participate in pre‑bid meetings and proposal strategy discussions

• Lead or participate in project kickoff meetings to transfer scope, risks, and execution details to operations

• Ensure design and estimate accuracy to support successful project execution and margin targets

Strong understanding of:

RESPONSIBILITIES

Summary

Under the supervision of the Project Manager, the candidate will perform field and office-based tasks aligned with company policies, standards, and best practices. You’ll also contribute to project success by providing quality control support, observations, and technical recommendations to the project team.


Main Responsibilities

· Install and maintain the performance of various geotechnical and structural monitoring instruments following Sixense procedures, including but not limited to datalogging systems, Vibration Monitors, Noise Monitors and Automatic Motorized Total Stations.

· Assembling instrumentation and Automatic Data Acquisition Systems (ADAS).

· Operation of power tools and hand tools (hammer drill, Sawzall, wrenches, etc.)

· Performing the configuration of the Data Management System.

· Coordinating and communicating with clients, subcontractors, and others.

· Provide timely assistance to engineers and fellow technicians as needed.

· Perform routine maintenance and installations, which may involve working at height, on rail systems, or during night shifts.


Health & Safety

· Actively participate in Sixense’s Health and Safety Program and help foster a positive safety culture.

· Ensure full understanding of all relevant safety protocols before starting any task.


Other Responsibilities

· Communicate equipment needs, performance issues, or field findings to the Supervisor or Project Manager.

· Occasionally climbing up to ladders and lifting up to 50 lbs. to install or decommission instrumentation.

QUALIFICATIONS & EXPERIENCE

Education & Experience

· BS Degree in Civil Engineering or related discipline is considered an asset.

· 1+ years of relevant field experience.

· Demonstrable experience with the installation and maintenance of geotechnical and structural instruments such as piezometers, inclinometers, extensometers, and total stations.

· Basic understanding of heavy construction means and methods.

· Strong collaboration abilities, working effectively with colleagues and within multidisciplinary teams.

· Strong attention to detail and effective oral and written communication skills.

· Must be technology-minded, have basic knowledge about instrumentation systems, basic programming, software, low-voltage electrical, and remote measurements.

· Valid driver’s license with a clean driving record.

  • Ensure that all vehicles meet CarMax Final Quality Standards.

Job Specifications:

  • Read, interpret and transcribe data in order to maintain accurate records.
  • 2 Year automotive trade school degree or has minimum 2 years automotive experience
  • Requires appropriate state inspection certification
  • Work with and through associates of other departments within the store.
  • Perform additional duties in a high-energy, fast-paced working environment as requested by supervisor
  • Possess above attention to detail and demonstrate manual dexterity in both arms and hands
  • Speak and listen to customers, associates and managers in person, on the phone, and/or on the radio.
  • Lift objects that weigh as much as 50 lbs.
  • Comply with CarMax, O.S.H.A., and EPA policies

Working Conditions:

  • Combination of both indoor and outdoor environment; May include working at times in noisy and/or inclement weather conditions.
  • May require walking or standing for an extended time.

  • To earn up to 48 hours of sick time per year accrued on a per pay period basis and between 80 hours and 200 hours per year of vacation time after a 90 day waiting period depending on years of continuous service with the Company. 
  • For 8 hours of pay for each of a total of 6 paid scheduled holidays per year plus 1 floating holiday.  If such an Associate does work on a scheduled holiday due to business need, they are eligible for Holiday Premium Pay. 

Associates considered full-time salaried are entitled to paid time away with no specified limit as needed for sick, vacation, bereavement, jury duty, holidays, floating holiday, etc. subject to manager approval.
