Position Overview:

We are currently seeking motivated Nurse Practitioners and Physician Assistants with adult and pediatric experience, to join our expanding team in our West Springfield, Lake Ridge and South Alex centers

  • Provide a wide variety of clinical services including treatment of acute episodic conditions such as sore throats, colds, flu-like symptoms, cuts, sprains and minor infections.
  • Treat minor injuries that may require sutures, splints, or casting.
  • Assess and recognize more serious conditions and direct patients to the emergency room for advanced care when necessary.

RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • SPECT MPI Responsibilities (Primary):
    • Perform high-quality Cardiac SPECT MPI imaging following departmental protocols.
    • Explain SPECT procedures and stress testing to patients and ensure proper preparation.
    • Document procedures and patient records accurately in the EPIC EMR.
    • Maintain radiation safety and administer emergency protocols when needed. Collaborate with providers, APPs, and team members to ensure smooth workflow.
  • PET/CT Responsibilities (Cross-Trained Coverage):
    • Explain PET procedures and stress testing to patients and ensure proper preparation.
    • Monitor stress response during pharmacologic testing.
    • Document studies accurately in EPIC EMRand PACS.
    • Assist with glucose monitoring and patient preparation as needed.
    • Follow PET/CT safety protocols, including aminophylline administration when applicable.
    • Actively participate in workflow coverage and readiness.
    • Engage in protocol development or performance improvement projects as assigned.

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Certification - Basic Life Support upon start; Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support (for Critical Care) upon start
  • Licensure - Licensed Physician Assistant or Nurse Practitioner; If Nurse Practitioner: RN Compact License(depending on State of primary residence) AND a license (or eligibility for) as a nurse practitioner or physician assistant in the Commonwealth of Virginia AND a "Practice Agreement" signed by sponsoring/ supervising physician(s), AND a written "Scope of Practice/Protocol" signed by the supervising physician, AND "Drug Enforcement Administration License" (if prescribing controlled substances)
  • Board Certification - Physician Assistant or Acute Care Nurse Practitioner. Maintains necessary CME requirements.
  • Education - Bachelor's in Nursing and Master's in Advanced Clinical Practice or graduate of a post masters certificate program for nurse practitioners, OR a certificate from an education program that is accredited by the Council of Nurse Anesthesia Educational Programs/Schools, American College of Nurse Midwives, American Association of Colleges of Nursing of the National League for Nursing.
