Collections Attorney – Newark

Our client is a full-service commercial law firm with offices in New Jersey, New York and Florida.

Position Overview

We are seeking and In-House Collections Attorney who will work closely with the Firm's General Counsel and finance team to address the full lifecycle of collections, from client outreach through to litigation when needed. This includes evaluating current receivables, initiating communications, and determining the appropriate steps to collect on outstanding receivables, including letters, settlement offers, formal litigation and post-judgment collection.

Key Responsibilities

• Review outstanding client receivables and payment histories.
• Assess and prioritize accounts based on legal and financial considerations.
• Initiate and manage direct client communications regarding overdue invoices.
• Draft and send letters, negotiate pre-litigation settlements/payment plans.
• Prepare, commence and be responsible for collection litigation through trial.
• Handle post-judgment collection proceedings.
• Collaborate with the finance department, COO, and attorneys to implement tailored collection strategies aligned with client relationships.
• Provide detailed updates and reporting.
• Maintain documentation and ensure all collection efforts are compliant with applicable laws and ethical rules.

Requirements

• J.D. from an accredited law school.
• Admitted in both New Jersey and New York (required).
• 3-6 years of experience in collections, debt recovery or a similar legal field.
• Proven ability to manage the full collections process from initial outreach to post-judgment collection.
• Strong working knowledge of state and federal collections laws.
• Excellent communication, negotiation, and organizational skills.
• Experience working with finance or billing teams is a plus.

Work Schedule & Flexibility

• Full-time preferred, but we are open to considering a reduced schedule (3–4 days/week) for the right candidate.
• Hybrid work environment: Full-time employees are expected to work at least 3 days per week in-office.

Salary and Benefits

• Salary Range: $200,000 – $250,000 annually. Final compensation will be determined based on experience, skills, and qualifications.

A leading Newark law firm seeks an experienced and detail-oriented Trust & Estates Paralegal to support attorneys in its Tax, Trusts & Estates practice. This role requires strong paralegal and accounting skills, accuracy, and the ability to work independently with clients and third parties.

Hybrid 2 days remote

Must have 2 years or more of Trust & Estate Paralegal Experience. Must have financial knowledge

of Estate Finances.

• Manage estate and trust fiduciary accounts and checkbooks
• Prepare checks for expenses, distributions, and disbursements
• Reconcile bank statements and maintain accurate records
• Coordinate with attorneys to ensure timely payment of invoices
• Assist with internal accounting systems and process improvements

Client & File Management

• Communicate with clients, beneficiaries, and professionals

Estate & Trust Administration

About the Role

• Handle complex commercial litigation matters for clients represented by both the New York and New Jersey offices.

Pay range and compensation package
