We are seeking an experienced On-Site Safety Technician to support Environmental, Health, and Safety (EHS) compliance on an active construction project in Charlottesville, VA. This role plays a critical part in maintaining a safe jobsite by monitoring working conditions, conducting safety inspections, and ensuring all contractors comply with project-specific safety requirements and OSHA standards.

The Safety Technician will work closely with project leadership, field supervisors, and subcontractors to promote a proactive safety culture and ensure the project operates under a strong integrated safety management system.

Key Responsibilities

  • Conduct daily jobsite safety inspections and identify unsafe conditions or behaviors
  • Ensure compliance with site-specific Environmental, Health, and Safety (EHS) policies and procedures
  • Assist in implementing the Construction Environmental, Health, and Safety Plan (CEHSP)
  • Coordinate pre-job safety planning with field supervisors and project teams
  • Ensure subcontractors follow all project safety requirements and protocols
  • Provide safety orientations and ongoing safety guidance to workers on site
  • Document safety inspections, incidents, corrective actions, and compliance reports
  • Support incident investigations and help implement corrective action plans

Position Summary

Deliver comprehensive Procore training to field employees and project teams across active construction sites and regional offices. Develop and maintain training materials, conduct both in-person and virtual training sessions, and support the deployment of Procore modules as part of the company's operating system initiative. Serve as a bridge between technology implementation and field operations by providing hands-on coaching, gathering user feedback, and ensuring all employees receive role-appropriate platform training. Primary Job Responsibilities

· Travel regularly to active construction sites and regional offices to deliver hands-on Procore training through group sessions, one-on-one coaching, and virtual platforms.

· Develop role-specific training materials and upload content to the Learning Management System (LMS) for self-paced learning, onboarding, and refresher training.

· Stay current on Procore updates, technology best practices, and industry trends to effectively explain new features and functionality to employees at all levels of technical proficiency.

· Work with People Operations to document and track training, ensuring all employees receive appropriate Procore training based on their role and responsibilities.

· Create and maintain training schedules that coordinate with project timelines and minimize disruption to ongoing work.

· Provide ongoing support and troubleshooting assistance to Procore users, working with IT when appropriate.

Expectations

· Travel: Willingness and ability to travel extensively (estimated 50% of work time) to job sites within assigned region, including overnight stays. Valid driver's license and ability to pass an MVR (Motor Vehicle Record) check

· Management: there are no supervisory responsibilities.

· Physical: Ability to navigate active construction sites, including walking on uneven terrain and working in various weather conditions. Prolonged periods sitting and standing during training sessions. Must be able to lift up to 15 pounds at times.

· Work Environment: This job operates in both professional office environments and active construction sites. Regular exposure to construction site conditions including noise, dust, and varying weather. This role routinely uses standard office equipment such as computers, phones, and presentation tools.


Qualifications

· High school diploma or equivalent required; Associate's or Bachelor's degree preferred

· 1-2 years of experience in the construction industry with direct field experience preferred.

· Understanding of construction workflows, terminology, and daily challenges faced by field personnel.

· Demonstrated experience using Procore or willingness to obtain Procore Certification within the first 60 days of employment.

· Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite, Microsoft Teams, and Learning Management Systems (LMS).

· Proven ability to train and communicate technical concepts to diverse audiences with varying levels of technological comfort.

· Strong organizational and project management skills with ability to coordinate training schedules across multiple locations.

· Patient, approachable demeanor with ability to adapt teaching style to different learning preferences and work independently.

Barton Malow is expanding our leadership team with a newly created Director of Construction role to support our rapidly growing Southeast Healthcare Market, spanning VA, NC, SC, FL, and TN. This position will serve as a key operational and strategic resource, guiding the successful delivery of large, complex healthcare projects while elevating field excellence, safety, and innovation across the region. As a senior leader, the Director of Construction will mentor and empower our superintendent teams, shape project build strategies, strengthen client relationships, and ensure our work consistently reflects the high standards that define Barton Malow’s healthcare portfolio.


The Director of Construction oversees the construction effort on complex, large healthcare projects or multiple healthcare projects to ensure it is constructed safely in accordance with design, budget and schedule. This position directly supervises and mentors the Superintendents assigned to the project/s, collaborates with the project management team, manages the Owner’s expectations, ensures productivity of subcontractors, and provides leadership in complying with applicable project, Barton Malow, and regulation requirements. The Director provides leadership, strategic planning and embraces innovation as the construction industry evolves.


Responsibilities:


  • Enforces corporate safety policies on jobsites, including pre-task safety planning and providing key responsibility for safety compliance in the field.
  • Supports sales efforts and project pursuits and promotes Barton Malow in the healthcare industry.
  • Leads project team with the establishment of the overall project build strategy and work flow and helps document those in site logistics and phasing plans.
  • Oversees set-up of baseline project schedule(s) and schedule updates; ensures all activities take place on or ahead of scheduled dates; supervises, coordinates and sequences subcontractor’s work to minimize interference between various trades and owner activities on large, complex project or multiple projects; maintains labor harmony.
  • Oversees and coordinates with each trade holding permits and Authorities Having Jurisdiction (AHJs) to ensure compliance with inspection process and progress is in line with schedule, planning, and commissioning process.
  • Assists with development of work scopes and front-end documents for bidding to create clear and concise scopes of work based on full understanding of the contract documents and applicable work rules/jurisdictions; assists with bid process including participation in post-bid interviews and answering bidder questions.
  • Partners with Project Executives with management of overall budget and forecasting of usage, by helping to control cost and monitoring potential changes from contractors, including time and materials.
  • Attends internal and external (with owners and designers) project meetings to provide field progress reports, awareness of challenges faced, and help problem-solve on construction activities.
  • Manages the installation of the work in the field to the quality standards required for the project.
  • Supports the success of the project team, specifically upcoming Superintendents, by sharing lessons learned and training/mentoring; acts as a career advocate.

Requirements:


  • Minimum 15 years' experience in the healthcare construction industry on large and complex projects
  • Experience leading large healthcare projects greater than or equal to$500 million
  • Minimum of 8 years of direct supervision of projects teams including trades
  • Willing to travel throughout the Southeast region (VA, SC, NC, TN, and FL)
